Almost ready to order a G...still tempted by another subie

I was all sold on buy a G...Hell I even have one coming in next month with my name on it...

I love subaru's...I have one now..Its a wrx with half a sti bolted into it...Thing makes almost 400 at the crank, its a absolute blast, and in the nj tristate area we only have about 3-400 owners that shop up at big meets.. BUT with that being said the turbo has failed. I have a mystery rattle the car won't pass inspection and it just has a ton of rattles...so it is being replaced regardless.

I went to a meet and greet for the subie world rally champ Peter Solberg...and saw and heard a ton of sti's and rex's...You CAN'T beat the sound of a subaru engine...

But anyway I'm almost 25 and while that is still young, I'm trying to become more of a professional and want to impress freelance clients for design work (if I can ever find any) and I just don't think a car with a huge wing and obnoxious blue interior is going to do it...

so I guess pros for the G35:

style...tons more then a 06 sti cause they are freaking ugly.
That coolness factor-again goes back to style
sunroom
leather
heated seats
heated mirrors
MUCH better warranty and length of warranty....A subaru comes in with a tranny issue and you are allready at a disadvantage with them...They are anti mods and seem to only want you to drive like a gramma...coming from a company that has I think the most RABID fan base of all the import marks..
loaner if you need service...sometimes you can with subaru sometimes you can't..
better build quality in the interior

CONS:
less power
less power potential
loose the all purpose power
probably can't handle as well

and then the Pros for the sti:
fast as hell
bright blue interior
amazing handling
did I mention fast?
BREMBO'S

CONS:
not a more adult car
obnoxious
crappy build quality inside...car will rattle after 40-50k
ugly as sin...they go down hill every face lift since the GC8 body (mid 90's to 01)
very very easy to steal
has the riceboy feel to it

so basically I'm like 95% there to getting a G that meet and seeing all the wild subies and the subie WRC kinda tossed me for a curve. And I know I will get a biased answer from a G site but I kinda need that....so can you guys give me that shove....

and I promise I won't ever post a topic asking what a Z tube is..

Go for the G coupe. You'll love it even though it won't be as fast as the Scooby

Thanks...the 04 that I test drove had a nice linear power band to it....While it didn't have that snap your head back mid-top end that my wrx has, I doubt much does...BUT it was a fun car to drive none the less and felt just solid and got alot of looks...

everything was smooth on the car. that is the best way to describe it...smooth

Come on . . . You know you just gotta have the Subaru. You're only young once. Get the subie, first. Wrap yourself around a few trees. Then go and get yourself a G.

I don't want to be rude, but I don't know why people buy Evos and WRXs. I fully understand that they are very very fast. But what else?? Those two cars in my opinion are one of the ugliest car on the market right now. If you wanna race on the track it makes sense. I would take Altima than those two. Make sure to get G.

You have to know the meaning of boost, it's a disease. It's as addictive as a drug. It's not just another fast car, it's a totally different driving experience. That being said, I totally agree with you on the looks of these cars. The Altima looks a helluva lot better. But it's no racecar. There have been people on here who bought a G35 in an attempt to stay away from bikes and such and it didn't work out. So you have to know whether the G offers enough to keep you happy, or you're gonna miss that BOV more than you love the G. Then again you can always go F/I with the G too.

Its a tough call, you own an WRX already yet you still craving the POWER...I would suggest get STI, otherwise you will always missing those POWER, and wonders what if...

If you must have the HP, looks and style, then just get '03-05 BMW M3. That will impress your clients.

I wish I can get a m3...But the G and the sti would be in my budget...And since my father is a employee at a infin dealer I get a sweet deal.

And about the power potential..Its not the same. You take that amount of money and put it into a sti and you will easily have another 100 hp on top of what the G can make...BUT then you would be stuck with a car that won't pass inspection and draws WAY too much attention to itself.

I have a feeling if I bought a sti I would miss what the G offers more then what I would miss with the G..Once in a while I really crave speed, and the rest of the time I just want a cool car that I can cruise around in. The G was a fun car to drive and it didn't freaking rattle. And it was quick, just not as quick as a sti, and really not many cars under 60-70k are quicker then a sti.....

I think I'm starting to realize what I want. I don't auto-x, I don't street race and I don't drag the car...I just want something that I can have fun with in the twisties and cruise around with and blast from a stop light once in a while...

If the sti was more refined and toned down it would be a no decision, but it really is a raw car to own.

I went through the same decision-making process before I picked up the G35. I really enjoy driving the G, but I've driven an STi for a few fun runs autocrossing and the driving experience is wonderfully raw. It would still be a very tough choice if I had to do it all over again.
