I broke my key?

I dropped my keys the other day before getting into my car. When I picked them up and tried to insert it into the ignition it would not go in, it gets stuck about half way in. So I was pretty sure that my ignition lock broke. But then I tried to insert the same key into my door lock and the same thing happened. There is NO visible damage on the key anywhere, since it ony fell from couple of feet. Now I am using my spare key. Is there an internal chip or something that I broke?

The chip doesn't affect the door lock though. There must be a burr on the key or it is bent slightly.

I'd check if the key was bent... especially the tiny ledges at the tip of the key.

Check for overall straightness too......I think you'll find it's slightly bent.

You may have dinged one of the teefs on your key. The RFID chip (thank TI technology) in the key wouldn't affect the physical insertion of the key into your ignition.
