That looks just like the car I got in for a blown motor ...

The customer ran the car for 41k miles without a single oil change. How do I know you ask? well, where I work, I can check the history of the car... car never had any service done at any other infiniti/nissan dealerships. We asked the customer when the last time he had an oil change done and he said 2k miles ago. Made no sense b/c of the nissan oil filter, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. We asked for a reciept of the oil change and he says "Sure, no problem" he comes back in with a fresh reciept a couple of hours later. We then call the private shop to ask what kind of filter they use and they say "we only use wiks oil filter"... bingo the car still had a nissan filter. Also something people may not know... oil filters from the factory and oil filters from your local infiniti parts department have different serial numbers on the filter. This guy's trying to pull a fast one now... We denied warranty and now he's going to have to end up paying over 11 grand for a new long block

homie..gl with your car.
actually, what he said is quite reassuring if you do your own changes. They actually gave him the benefit of the doubt. You should have no problem proving anything if your dealer checked around like this one did.

I'm very surprised a VQ35 would make it that long. Thats gotta be 1.5-2 years of driving at a minimum.

ps, thats not homie's car.. its a customer at the dealership

thats fvcking bullsh!t that yall are denying warranties all over the place. I change my own oil. Go buy my filter from the dealership then back home to change my own oil, why couldn't he have taken the grease monkey's at the shop his own filter? and for the first blown you said you didn't know why it would be covered under warranty? because it is a NEW FVCKIN CAR MAN! what the hell? why wouldn't it be covered? if you can prove he is spraying or hasn't done maintence that is one thing but to assume that it shouldn't be covered pisses me off. effing stealerships.

Yeah, if you do your own oil changes, you shouldn't have any problem providing receipts, etc. Sounds like the guy shipsaeki was talking about really was neglecting basic maintenance.

But not BRAND new - its 2, almost 3 years with 18,xxx miles on it. You know dealerships can call abuse if they want and deny a warranty. Abuse could be determined by the tire wear, tranny wear, and other misc parts. I try to keep everything somewhat on the downlow to protect everyone, but I will say the driver was not even a legal tobacco-buying age.... You think drivers could come in fried clutches, stripped trannies, bald tires, etc and still get it under warranty? A dealer may over look it once or twice just to make the customer happy - this was the case for Infinite1 and his brakes! :P
Understood, from the original post I read it didn't seem like there was anything other than a blown engine and the possibility that they were on the bottle. And for the record I still think it is BS that a warranty can be denied based on assumed abuse. They don't know how you drive your car stripped trannies, crap clutches, bald tires, and other misc parts are all part of driving a car, they happen whether you abuse it or not (special attention to these trannies and clutches). Denying warranty based on assumption, especially because of someone's age (that has absolutely nothing to do with it and should have no weight in considering abuse) is just wrong in my opinion. These are expensive cars and 2 or 3 years and less than 20K is NOT a lot on a car so there shouldn't be problems like this, it is the dealerships responsibility to stand behind their product, not shift blame to a kid who may or may not have driven the car hard, unless you have some proof of mis-use warranty shouldn't be questioned. Innocent until proven remember.

Hey hater... Maybe you should read what I wrote instead of blowing up. You think I like to deny warranties? you think I get a thrill out of it?

Read carefully and you will see that I wrote that the factory oil filters have different oil filters from the ones you buy from parts... This engine that I ripped apart STILL HAD THE FACTORY OIL FILTER!!!!!!!

So don't get your ******* in a wringer.

There isn't a single car manufacturer in the world that would honor a warranty to an idiot who never changed the oil!
