Ya this situation sucks, but your best bet is to part the car out and cut your losses. You can't trust anything anyone says when they sell you a car unless its legally backed; you have to verify it independently. Cars that have been in accidents in particular. I know at least in Illinois bad houses are different, but with cars as-is is as-is.
