I'll test it.

I always test fuel economy stuff and keep good records of my measurements too.

My prediction would be that VDC would not affect fuel economy, but you never know.

The car does feel quicker with the VDC off.. so who knows what's really going on behind the scenes in our ECU's when you hit that little "FUN" button.

With VDC on, it's very apparent when it kicks in, so I know I'm not missing something.

I almost always turn the VDC off when I start driving... ...which means that I'm on the brake or clutch within the first 1/4 mile, max.
Do a couple of doughnuts with VDC off and not only will you see the slip light flash, but it stays on to remind you of how bad you were until you restart the car.

lol VDC is ok, but it's not that good, if you are an experienced with RWD cars then you should be fine, VDC breaks individual wheels when they start to slip, the thing I hate his trying to accelerate out of taking a hard corner with VDC on always always always throttles back my engine. It gets annoying, and I have yet to twist out the back end with VDC off...

Topped off the G coming in the gate to work this morning. I'm going to burn this tank without VDC and see what the numbers are.

I'll top off after about a 1/4 and see what the difference is.

I have nav and tried it. I saw no gains in MPG. I used a full tank to go back and forth to work and it said I averaged 20.9 mpg. I usually average about 20-22 mpg. I will however tell you that I chirped the tires more often which means more tire wear. That means that keeping the VDC off will cost me more in the long run with having to replace the tires more often.

I burned a quarter of a tank, just topped her off, and the difference is dismissable for any number of reasons. I see the same variation between all my tanks that I saw over the last quarter.

When I fill up, it usually takes ~25 miles for the needle to drop to the "F" mark. I usually drive between 95 - 105 miles before the needle is square on top of the 3/4 tank mark. On this tank, I got 101.

I guess the VDC gas mileage increase is like the ECU reset. Some cars see a huge difference, others perform normally.

I dunno.

I just finished my little experiment.

I ran through 3/4 of a tank and then topped off before going on my trip to Dallas. I got 19.5mpg. Almost the exact same as the 4 tanks prior to this one. VDC was turned off EVERYTIME I went somewhere. So turning off the VDC to increase the gas mileage did not work for me.

As a side note, about 40 miles of the experiement was done with the A/C turned completely off. So if anything, it's a bit worse.

Now as for strictly highway mileage, going to Dallas and coming back half way with A/C always on, several full acceleration runs and one 125mph run, I managed 24.5mpg. So I'd say Infiniti is pretty close to what they're rating in terms of MPG.

So I'd say driving style has THE greatest effect on your MPG given that everything is running correctly. But if you're getting 13-14mpg with mixed driving, I'd say there's something wrong.

I tried it too. I did several tests, and the fuel economy was unaffected by VDC over a 4 day test cycle.

I can't believe how many threads show up about VDC doing this or that. VDC is a comprehensive traction control system. Nothing else. It doesn't change clutch positions. It does not change gas mileage.

Maybe next, VDC will make my stereo sound better....

I think with RX8s, leaving traction control off helps their gas mileage.

But I tend to just leave VDC on. There are a few threads here of people losing control of the car with the Michelin Pilot Sports in poor weather, and often times the story starts with the guy turning VDC off.

To save maybe a few bucks on gas is not worth it to me compared to some extra protection against wiping out.
