Reverse Gear

Does anyone know what's the maximum speed going in reverse with the G? I'd be even more curious to know who has actually tried to find out.

Considering 2nd gear is 3.794 and goes to 30 mph, reverse should be slightly more at 3.446.

It would depend what year you had too wouldn't it? I would guess and 05 could go faster since it has a few more hundred rpms.

well, I wasnt lying when I said i was going to try it. I hit 40 mph at about 6700 rpm. So my guess is 43-45 mph at 6900. Sorry I couldnt go up all the way, but I ran out of enough room to safely slow down.

You really shouldnt put those stupid ideas in my mind

i think he meant first. First goes to 30, second to 60, 3rd to 90, 4th to like 115 i think...5th goes to ~130, and highest Ive been in 6th is 143 MPH, that was at around 5.5-6k RPM. (its hard to get the numbers when your driving that fast, look at the road)

I think he meant first judging by the ratio that he typed out. More likely he typoed the 1 than a whole gear ratio

Oops, seems like Mike beat me to it.

Yes, I meant 1st gear. Considering the same final gear ratio and redline, 3.794 is approx. 10% increase over 3.446 reverse gear ratio. The 10% decrease in gear ratio for reverse actually translates to a 10% increase in top speed in that gear. 1st gear actually taps out closer to 38 mph, so a 10% increase in mph would be about 42 mph. Guys running the 3.94 (3.5 for OEM) final gear ratio from 350EVO actually lose mph for each gear.

For those considering trying it:

Don't. Not a safe thing since the rears don't steer and any variation in the wheel will easily put you into a spin. Think of it like this...Imagine driving forward, but your rears do the turning...any slight turn of the wheels can cause a fishtail/spinout.
