people have no respect for your car. park as far away from anyone else as you can.

Sorry for my anger, but yesterday somebody pulled a hit&run on my sedan, and now I have to buy a new bumper.
Whenever I park somewhere: I try to first look for another G35 Coupe. If not, I park in a safe spot. I used to park way out there, but I figure now that a car isolated from everything else is probably more vulnerable to be vandalized rather than closer to other cars.
I still try to park at the end though. I will never squeeze in a spot, and will NEVER park next to an SUV. Why? Two reasons: 1) Either they are incapable of properly backing out and will sideswipe you, or 2) Most of the time they have kids in it that simply swing open the doors without looking.

anyway...you definitely have to take caution when parking. I usually park far away from other ppls car. As for vandalism, I don't think ppl will walk their lazy a ss just to scratch my car. Besides, there is usually another car a few parking spaces away.
*Sigh* Just noticed a nice door ding on the passenger door, It's pretty high up...looks liike some on swung an SUV door at it.
I work in a shopping center and I am forced to park in the customer parking, car gets RAPED and there's nothing I can do about it....oh well

I'm also very **** about parking. I always try to park in an empty spot where there isn't a car to my right or left, but of course this doesn't always happen. Sometimes I'll park next to nice/nicer cars or other G's if I happen to find one.
Parallel parking? HAHA.. I park about a foot away from the curb and if it looks like I won't have at least a foot of space between my car and the car in front/back of me, I will not park there.

I always look for a spot which is further away which most ppl won't wanna walk the distance to park and walk. My previous car I accidently parked once close to the mall entrance. On my return, I find 2 nice dings on the passenger side, after that.. I prefer to park as far as ppl and just walk an extra 5 mins.

When I first got it a month ago, I went to work and had to park in a "regular" spot. There were only two choices, in the sun or in the shade. This was a brand new car only two weeks old, so naturally I choose the shade. I thought I was making the right choice. When it was time to go home for the day, I walked back to my car. It was the saddest thing I ever saw. Someone broke my passanger mirror off. It was hanging by the wires.
I couldn't believe it. And of course, there was no note. It didn't even have liscence plates yet, and already to the shop. Still don't know who or why.

Still don't know who or why.I never park in the shade, because whenever I do, my car will be covered in tree sap when I get back. (Either that or pine needles. My wife borrowed my car once and parked under a pine tree. I think I was still pulling pine needles out of the nooks and crannies months later)
I also never park next to any lightposts or anything tall, cause then my car will be covered in bird droppings. I just park out in the boondoggles away from everything, and if it's sunny, I'll use a sunshade.
On a side note, one time at work in my other car, I caught my director dinging my car. I was in the car typing some last minute stuff on my notebook before I put it back in my bag, and my director pulled up next to me. I was parked far away from the main entrance, and there were plenty of spots closer. He still parked next to me. The door flew open, and and whacked the side of my car. I went out to look, and there was a nice shiner on the fender, really close to the edge, such that I wasn't able to do paintless-dent-repair. I couldn't exactly yell at him tho, since he was the director....
I'm one of those who park out in the middle of no where. If in tighter confines, I'll look for a nicer vehicle to park next to. At work, I park in a spot with an island on one side. I park close to the sloped curbing on that side, and there's about 4-5 feet between my closed door and the spot next to me.
I'm sure the first ding will happen eventually, but I try to minimize the chances.....

I'm the same way. If I go to the store and can't find a parking spot I feel comfortable with, I'll go home and go to the store another time. All my friends call me super **** about my ride, but I'm the only one without the dinged up door and scratches.

What you guys who park way away from all other cars and humanity should consider, is that a car isolated and deserted from everything else is actually much more vulnerable to vandalism. Think about it

That's quite true and I often think about this... In actuality, you take a risk wherever you park so it's really a lose/lose situation.
Ever since I started driving Honda Preludes in 1998 I've had to park in the No-Dent-Zone of every parking lot. Luckily the only dings I've ever received have been minor and only noticeable as you're looking down the side with a big glare on the panels. I'm even more paranoid now that I have a car thats $10k more expensive than my Preludes were!
