this is sort of a newbie question, so excuse me for asking but, i was just wondering about the oil change intervals for ppl who use their cars (in this case, a g35 coupe) only on weekends. for me, i've only put on about 3000 miles in the past 7 months. do i still need to change the oil every three months, which would be changing it at about 1200 miles, if that? or can i change it every 3000 miles instead of the 3750?

what would you guys recommend?

I only drive my g on the weekends too. I follow Schedule II which is every 6months or 7500miles. 6months is usually about 4k for me.

 

depends on how you drive.. if you push your car hard (red line every other time) and drive alot then 2,500-3,000 is where u wanan change your oil.. but if you're a light driver then u can pull 4k-5k if u want...

however when you let oil sit for a long time thats not good either.. so after about 3-4months i would change the oil weather or not u've reached 3-4k.

at the rate i drive i change mines every 2.5k sometimes earlyer if i have nothing to do.. $20-$25 is a small price to pay for good performance and engine life..

i would also change coolent at 10k as well as tranny fluid.. but thats just me

edit: remember, OIL NEVER gets dirty.. its the fuel and carbs that get into that makes it dirty.. also you'll want to change it even if you DONT drive it just because of all the stuff they add into oil
