srt4

I had just left for a lunch meeting a couple of hours ago and a black neon srt4 pulls up next to me with a mid-20's guy driving. Light turns green and we both jump on it at the same time onto the two-lane on-ramp to I405. It was obvious we both knew how to shift. I got about 2 car lengths ahead but hot d@mn if that guy wasn't sticking with me. All the way to about 80 or so when we both let off to drive in traffic. He wasn't gaining, but I wasn't shaking him either.

It may be a junky piece of plastic but it certainly moves. Thank goodness for NA torque to help me get ahead in the first place.

Why should he have won? From off the line, its purely a drivers race. G35 and SRT-4 have almost identical 0-60 times. If you were from a roll, from my experience you would have trashed him.

if its a race between cars the srt should've won by a bit... but realli tho 0-60 isnt even a race.. if ur racing just from 0-60 just about any race would become a drivers race.. but a win is a win.. i love running with srts.. have yet to meet a stock one but they're lotta fun to play with.

if its from a roll IMO he would've gone futher ahead.. we have the advantage from a dig because his car is front wheel drive while we get rear wheel with nice FAT tires for traction.. i believe an srt comes with 18"x7.5..

didnt notice the original poster had an 05.. hmm 3rd gear helps.. now i wonder >=D

I agree with heeb I beat one at the track a couple of weeks ago, but only by about a fender. What cracks me up is how offended they get when you call them "Neon's". they are quick to correct you by saying "it's not a Neon, it's an SRT-4" My guess is if you check the title or registration it says Neon on it somewhere. and no matter how fast they are they are still butt ugly IMO.

All the ones where I live are boosted like crazy. Raced a few already just for the hell of it and got walked many many times. Only way you beat that thing is if it was bone stock. However, a win is a win.

They are pretty quick. I raced a built one in my Supra a while back and didn't put the buslengths on him like I did the WRX. I give them respect for the power but when you go home, it's still a neon.

I didn't see that race... was that Dave in the red, or Scott in his black srt4? I don't remember what Dave was running, but by the end of the day Scott was running high 13's, and none of us came close to that. Of course, Dave was boosting 24 psi and blew his brake line, and Scott had ripped everything out but the driver's seat.

I always liked them for what they are: cheap speed. And they're cheap to mod too for some crazy speed. The day I test-drove my first g, the wife and I were considering leasing an SRT4. I am SO glad we didn't.

Wrong day Trey. I went to Lassiter Mt. with a guy I work with the Sunday after the photo shoot. He has a crossfire and a buddy has an SRT4 (an ugly orange one to be exact). What can I say, I was practicing my launch (busted) I couldn't have the 4 door smoking me next time we all go to the track however the day we were at Steele I think the Video shows Steven beating Scott by just a tad.
