MacNeil/Weathertech disappointment
MacNeil/Weathertech disappointment
Gents (and ladies)--
Just a head's up here. I recently ordered a set of LampGards for my G35C from MacNeil Automotive products (aka WeatherTech or www.mats.com) which seemed like a very good $40 investment.
I tried placing the order over the web, but experienced difficulties so I called to confirm that my order had been received and they had my payment information. The girl on the line took down all my info and had someone CALL me back...at which point, they confirmed my order for COUPE LampGards.
Well, I receive them and they don't look quite right, but the instructions stated that there would be some excess material...so I go ahead with the application process but NEVER could get the thing to fit. So I call MacNeil and spoke to someone named DAVE and asked if there was any possibility that I had sedan LampGards rather than Coupe...and sure enough, that's what they sent me...well, asking about how we were going to handle this, he offered to SELL me another set at a discount (first 10%, then 25% after speaking with "his manager"). I said that that wouldn't be necessary and that I wasn't interested in doing business with them again...
Just an FYI for anyone who may be contemplating a purchase from them...I will NEVER purchase anything from them again.
Drive it like I stole it?
Hell...drive it like I'm making payments on it...

That's terrible. You would hope that since it was their mistake in shipping you the wrong item that they would offer to replace it with the right one.
I've bought WeatherTech floormats, trunkmats, etc for all of my cars from them over the years (at least 5-6 sets) and have had no problems whatsoever.

Re: MacNeil/Weathertech disappointment
If they sent you the incorrect part, they have an obligation to get you the part you purchased. By accepting your money, they have to fulfill their end of the transaction, and from what your saying, they have yet to do so. Don't let it go until your satisfied. Threaten them with legal action!
Re: MacNeil/Weathertech disappointment
I'm assuming you ordered with your credit card? Hopefully Am Ex? File a complaint with your card company saying that they sent the wrong product, now they aren't refunding your money. Everytime there's a charge reversal, the company's CC rate goes up. You'll either get your money back or get a new set of guards. Either way, i'd threaten them with filing complaints with both the attorney general and your state consumer fraud bureau. This is a BAIT AND SWITCH if I've ever heard one.

I agree with B-72: get your dough back and don't let it rest. From what you've told us, They screwed up and now want to stiff you with the bill. That's BS man...

It was like I was telling this Dave fella...I'm not trying to screw you guys out of anything...I just want what I paid for.
One of the selling points of this outfit is that their print advertising and website is so high end. I realize that my G isn't a McLaren, but you know, someone who drives a decent car and is interested in taking care of it probably ISN'T the kind of customer you want to alienate...
I've already talked with my credit card company AND filed a complaint with th BBB of Chicago AND posted this to every automotive forum I'm a member of...probably take B-72's suggesting and talk with someone at the La AG's office.
Seems a bit extreme for $47...but ya know, it has me really agitated.

Re: MacNeil/Weathertech disappointment
You can refuse to pay the amount charged to your Credit Card. Just call or look on the back of your statement for the procedures, I would also take some pictures and include it with your dispute when you send it up to the credit card company.
They will take it from there but do it within the next 30 days, so you fall within the time allowed. Companies do not like getting "charge backs" since they loose a lot of money from the fees Visa and Master Card charges back to them.
