i am new at driving stick and so i ask that u please bear with me with some of these questions.

1) when in 5th gear and driving at approx 90 miles an hour, and u wanna downshift into 4th to quickly get more acceleration, how do u do this without also slowing down the car so much that if u were racing another car he wouldnt have just blown by you bc u downshifted??????

2) is it bad for the engine if you drive with it reved to over 4 or 5 thousand rpm's? bc you can get to the cars peak amount of power qucker when its at that rpm

 

1) Right when you downshift, before you let off the clutch to set it into 4th, gas it to the floor then drop the clutch. Sort of like a speedshift. ( Upshifting while never letting off gas pedal )

2) No. You just waste a lot of gas.
