I was wondering with a stock intake set up, how does that "ram-Air" tube serve a purpose if it gets closed off when u close ur hood. (im refering to the tube that sits obove the grille and goes into the factory airbox) thanks

 

It may seem like the openings get blocked off, but they don't. You still get a good ram effect with it.

If you look carefully, it pulls air from the front grill area where it should.
it doesn't necessarily have to be ram-air, more for cool air intake.

 

I've never understood short ram intakes, don't you pull more hot air from the engine bay than from outside? Esp in traffic? I'm probably going to get a CAI, just seems more reasonable if you're looking for anykind of performance gains (too small to notice), or sound gains (noticable).
