VPP questions

I plan on buying a G35 coupe 6MT in the very near future using the "friend" aspect of the VPP. So from the website here is the calculation for reference. I'm new to the new car buying process and have some questions on the calculation of the price. So please bear with me.

* Dealer invoice
* Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87% : Infiniti 1.65%)
* Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, etc.
* Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted
* Plus destination and handling charge
* Minus applicable incentives
* Equals paticipant's purchase price

When a dealership sells a vehicle to you at the pre-negotiated price indicated above, it qualifies for a 5 percent delivery fee paid by Nissan North America, Inc. Please note that only dealerships in the continental United States, Hawaii and Alaska are eligible to participate in the VPP.

1.Dealer Invoice - self explanatory except does this also include the invoice prices of the packages such as premium or aero ?

2.Minus VPP discount of 1.65% - self explanatory

3.Plus dealer added options - Just to make sure...they are any add ons that the Dealer himself may add to the car??

4. Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted - what is this delivery fee? And how does it differ from destination fee?

5. Plus destination and handling charge - self explanatory of about $610

6. Minus applicable incentives - are these manufacturer rebates and cash back offers?? If not what are they?

7. Now that last paragraph, what does this mean that the "dealer qualifies for a 5% delivery fee"? Do I as a buyer get any advantage on this note?

Some general questions....

What about document fees, advertising fees, etc.... are these fees "business as usual" Meaning that VPP doesn't erase these, but I'll have to negotiate my way out of them?

Then at the end, tax, tag, and title is added on top correct?

Lastly...

I plan to get a G with only Premium package or possibly only premium and aero w/o wing. Has anyone gotten VPP with those config's and if so, what was your purchase price before tax, tag, and title?

Thanks

1. Dealer invoice includes the base invoice price of the car plus the dealer invoice of all the FACTORY installed options.

3. Right. The options the dealer added. For example if the car has a spoiler that was added at the dealership and not at the factory the price of the spoiler would fall into this category.

4. Not exactly sure what it is but you can't get out of paying it. Take 2.5% of the result from line 2 and add it to your total.

6. Your right but there aren't any for this car so don't worry about this line.

7. You don't get any of this. It's money Nissan pays the dealership when they sell at VPP so the dealership makes a little more $$$ on the deal.

You still have to pay a doc fee, tax, title, etc. I'm not sure about advertising fee. My dealership didn't have that.

I bought a 05 6MT Coupe back in May with Premium, Aero, and Splash Guards using VPP. I'm not 100% sure of my out the door price but I believe it was in the low 34k range. I'll have to check when I get home.

I don't know how technical you are but when I was looking at buying a Z or G with various different options I got tired of doing the calculation by hand so I wrote a simple java program that would do the calculation for me. You just enter whether it's an Infiniti or Nissan, the Invoice price, and MSRP price and it returns the VPP price, how much over invoice, and how much under MSRP the price is. I can send you the source code if you want it.

for my VPP i didnt get charged anything

invoice
- VPP discount
+destination .........................$618 (i think)
+handling (sopmething like that)$715 (i think)
+ tax titling...........................$too much

no luxury fees no gas guzzler tax no nothign else, EASY! no negotiation needed either.

just a note, its the dealers choice whether they want to give u the discount or not, make sure u talk to the fleet manager or GM before going. i was refused by Santa Monica but Tustin took the offer. The G35 coupe 6-speeds are the hardest cars to get it because dealerships are almost positive they will sell them.

hope this helps

"Out the Door"
... means "total cost"... that includes taxes, tag, title, etc... You shouldn't have to come up with a penny more.

VPP is the lowest price you will get i think. my car was 100-200 above invoice and it sure saves time not havingto negotiate with them...

Local dealer told me VPP was for Infiniti/Nissan employees or relatives only...

What's this "friend aspect of VPP" ??

Can a guy off the street get VPP pricing ??

Not true. If you work for any of the companies that are listed on the VPP company list on their website, your good to go. They only need like a business card or something like that. I know that not all dealers accept it, like the las vegas dealers. They also said the same thing to me, "only if your nissan or infiniti employee" crap. So I went to california to pick it up instead.
