Price break on demo car?
Price break on demo car?
Hi everyone. I'm currently in the market for a new coupe and wanted to get an opinion regarding demo cars. One of my local dealers actually has the car I want, but apparently they told me it has 385 miles on it already....is this cause for concern? I have never purchased a new car, so this seems like an awful lot, especially b/c this car was probably not driven around for a slow, laid back ride! I imagine it is/was a demo car, but the dealer is still insisting on MSRP. Any advice would help. Thanks

Sounds like a Demo car or one that was used by the Manager. Most new cars only have a max of 10-20 miles on them, depending on if they are test driven at the factory or not. Got my 4Runner with less then 10 on it. You can bet it was not BABIED!

With that many miles on it, it must have been surely used as a demo. Never pay MSRP for a demo! If the dealer insists on selling the demo for MSRP, then pass on it and place an order for a new one.

You're dealer most likely won't budge on the price. I'd pass on the car and wiat for one wiht only a few miles. I beat the hell out of the coupe when I test drove it, and I imagine other would have too.
There is a good discussion about this exact thing over at Fresh Alloy. Do a search there for "can't have it both ways" It was started by "dfw inifiniti" he's a dealer.
