Re: Audio Project

I believe the reason the A/C dies, and the VDC, TCS, whatever else there may be that doesn't function correctly, is becuase the stock stereo and casset player are used for grounding sources and power is passed through the casset player, so when it is disconnected, the circuit is broken and the devices that are dependent on this signal wont work until the circuit is completed.

Maybe infiniti used the cassette player for a 12v signal source to turn these devices on instead of routing it to the fuse box.

Re: Audio Project

Zaid,

I turn on the ac for at least 5 minutes while driving. Initially i thought same as you. But after 1 minute still produce heat only. Then i waited for awhile until 4-5 minutes, i couldn't take the heat and just turn it off. But after putting the factory stereo back, then i turn on the AC, within 5 seconds, cold air start pumping in. Take out the radio again, perform the same test, only hot air come in. So i know for a fact that it was the radio that cause it.

The installer suggest that find which cable is need to be grounded from the radio. I am not electronic engineer therefore i wouldn't know much. Maybe some1 that have access to the service manual would able to determine it.

Max,

I don't know but what you said seem to make sense. The installer mention same thing as what you said. So there might be some correlation there. I am not smart enough in this area to figure it out.

BTW, the vdc,tcs and abs light on was due to the brake switch.

Re: Audio Project

Jayhawk,

I had the alpine amp driving a focal set of speaker on my old car, it was okay. Then my friend ask me if i want to use his Sound Stream rubicon 604 cause he bought a Zapco competion series amp. I hook it up to the same speaker as the alpine was running. It was like night and day. The sound stream sound more dynamic and forward where the alpine was plain dull. After a month later, Soundstream went south on me so i went and bought the PG Ti 500.4. It sound better than the soundstream and it was wise purchase. I couldn't justify to pay that high for a car amp but after that experience, it was worth it. You can get some other amp that is cheaper like the Zapco reference series.

Your choice of JL 500.1 is a great one. I was gonna get that but during the installation, that amp was not available. So i chose PG 800.1 instead. But i wish that i did went with the JL. Oh well...a day late and dollar short.
