I wonder if the Rear Active Steering (RAS) will help lessen the body roll? Gosh...I wish they stop making big heavy cars.

Uhhh, what? E46 M3 with NO options is 3415lbs. It probably clocks in heavier than the G35 in most setups. Infiniti got it's coupe to 3500lbs because it is infiniti. We arn't talking Nissan here, 350z is the light one. This is a luxury car... you'd probably lose 100lbs if you changed the seats to racing ones instead of the huge leather seats that are in there. Not to mention, they like to call this car the skyline in Japan and if you are following that tradition, it makes sense that it is heavy. The R34 Skyline GT-R is around 3500lbs.

Difference is, M3's dont seem to be as heavy when you drive them. Those shiets can corner like hell!

20 lbs is nothing...one large meal at a mexican restaurant and you got your 20lbs right there . But really, a gallon of gas wieghs 6-8lbs (depending on temperature). So to offset keep 3 gallons less than full tank in your car and you wont notice the difference. Golf clubs and bags are about 15-20 lbs. 20lbs in the big scheme of things is not that big of a deal, and plus it's not rotational wieght.

Also the M3's handle so well because of their near 50/50 wieght distribution. Plus BMW has a tradition to build great track cars.

Also don't forget a comparably loaded M3 with options, etc is about 20K more expensive. With 20k dollars you can modify your car to be lighter and have more power than any m3.

Maybe it will increase the acceleration, but it will definately hurt gas mileage and at $3 a gallon, mpg is more important to me than gaining a 1/10 in the 1/4.

This is not the car you should be driving if you are really concerned about your gas bill.....and anyway 1 mpg change in EPA ratings isnt a big deal to most people who drive sport coupes, else they would be buying a prius or echo.

And I wonder if the weight Infiniti provides is for a base-level 5AT and 6MT.

Essentially, am I at the 3500lbs and most of you with Prem Pkg. etc. are heavier, or am I lighter than the quoted weight?

I looked at the sticker in the doorjamb and it doesn't specify. It gives a GVWR of over 4000lbs, but I don't how you convert that to the curb weight that we all use as a reference point.

Actually mpg is the reason I'm driving a G35 instead of an S4. So I'm willing to make some compromises, but driving a Prius or Echo is asking way too much. As far as being concerned about gas mileage, we all should be concerned even if it doesn't make that much differance to us on a personal financial level. At least that's the way I see it.

Lots of pasta I'm thinking. Have you seen the thighs on that thing? Enough friction to start a camp fire.

I think that the quoted weights are just whatever is standard on that model. Options add more...so a loaded 6mt is probably going to be around 3600...that's a porker!!!

I do have to say that it seems each iteration of this car is taking it farther down the road of "nice" and farther away from "cool". No more Brembos in '05, more weight each year, a less aggressive look for '06. Trying to distance it from the 350Z, I guess. But I'm happy with my '04.

^Likewise. (

I would really like to see a 'lightweight' NIMSO offering in the future. Given that the old Skyline GT-R was also accompanied by the RWD, single-turbo alternative and others, it's not asking too much, is it? Give it the NISMO S1 engine package and make it as light as possible without stripping the interior. Make a bundle with it from all those guys that aren't going to be able to afford the GT-R but who just can't seem to walk away from the car lot.

Yall forgot to bring in drivers weight into the picture. The less you are to your counterpart driving the same car, then you already win (for being the "lighter" G)

What's the ratio on the '05 vs. '06?
