Selling 05

Selling 05
Unfortunately, I have to sell my 2005 6MT in order to purchase a house. The car is in exceptional condition with 7800 miles on it. I purchased the car so am I better off trading it in or selling it privately? I can't seem to find the value on Kelly Blue Book yet. It’s an 05 w/ aero/trunk/splash. Can someone please give me the prices I should shoot for in a trade in or private sell?
If someone could suggest the best way to sell a car, that would be terrific too. I would like to make this as painless as possible. I wouldn't mind posting on sites such as autobytel or ebay.

Well if it doesn't have Premium, MSRP must have been between 34 and 35k. You lose a couple of grand the moment you drive it off the lot.. It's technically a one year old model even if almost new. Then add almost 8k miles on it. The dealer will buy it for 30k and try to sell it for $34k.. If I were you, I'd try autotrader or better yet eBay.

1. Forget about you paying tax on it. ($2050) The new buyer will have to pay tax on it too, they don't want to pay DOUBLE TAX.
2. You lose 10% for driving it off the lot ($3455).
3. You lose $.20-$.30 per mile for depreciation ($2000)
Anything over $25,000 and you're quickly losing the MAJORITY of the buyers interests. Remember you're selling a USED G35 with 7800 miles. I can go buy a new 2006 for $1k over invoice whenever I like. I'll get 7800 more miles to drive, 7800 more miles on my warranty, a newer body style, and better resale value when I go and sell my car. If a dealer offered you $30K for it, you'd be nuts not to sell it to them ASAP!

Details on the car: it's a 04.5, every option, 12K miles, sold in 2005 on eBay. Selling it for $2K less than what you paid for it with that kind of mileage being that the 05 was out already back then doesn't sound too bad does it. If the dealer really gives you 2-2.5 grand less than what you paid, good for you, but if they don't, I'd still try eBay, it's only $50 after all.

I agree with neffster, a $30K offer from the dealer is really good. Obviously, if they're willing to give you that then you know you could sell it yourself for a little more, just as they will attempt.
Now, how much is a relatively hassle-free, speedy process worth to you? Sure, Ebay is a really easy process, but you already have an offer for $30k. Knowing that you might be able to get a little more doesn't mean jack when your only offer on the table is for less. It's a good offer. Don't forget that or the fact that it's already on the table. Think hard before walking away from a deal that's (nearly) already done.
Factor in your time that you'd spend trying to do a local sale. Your time is money.

Housing bubble? I think the used G35 bubble is worse. Good for everyone that already owns one though, just tough on us looking for a used one.
