Need some quick advice... please!

Well, this is my first post and I'm soon to be a 2005 G35 6MT owner. I will be buying the car at invoice, but I can't decide which route I want to go with options. Both are available in the color I want and I can pick either up on Monday. Here's the options I am considering:

Option 1 ($35,672):
Premium Package
Navigation
Aero Package

Option 2 ($32,617 + Extras)
Sunroof
Aero Package
Double Din conversion (probably AVIC-D1 for nav, aftermarket speakers, etc)
Add dimming rearview mirror

Based on what I'm reading about the factory stereo, I'm not sure that I want to pay extra for it. In the end, if I choose option 2 I'll most likely dump the $3K I saved into aftermarket electronics, but I'm pretty sure I'll have a nice sounding stereo with nav and DVD when I'm done. I am fortunate enough to have a friend that is a custom installer.

So, I ask the current G35 owners - which way would you go? Am I giving up anything from the premium package that I am going to miss? I noticed that the power steering wheel adjustment is part of the premium package, without it is the wheel manually adjustable or fixed? Decsions, decisions...

Thanks!

Btw, this is the double din installation I would mimic:

Nice job with the install BlackonBlackG35!

I personally did option 2, and from what I'm told am the first on the mirror. Anyway, the only things you lose out on then really are the DUAL button on climate control, and the Auto on/off headlights. I have the AVIC D1 installed with the 50-GENK40 rearview autodimming homelink mirror.

The stock bose system blows. You will be way happier with an aftermarket NAV/DVD/etc system for less money.

PS... I paid $200 for the mirror, $1100 for my AVIC D1, and $400 for the DD kit. That totals $1700, leaving $1300 for additional upgrades!!!

Go with the Nav system. I love it although it sometimes takes me on strange turns.

If it's within my ability I will never again buy a car without a Nav system.

On that topic, I find it curious that when I look at the dealers' inventories, navigation systems are rare.

Yep, definitely talking about aftermarket nav. In fact, Inno, I was looking at your install just this morning. I could really care less about the dual climate, and the auto on/off headlights are cool, but I'll get over it real quick.

I was just price shopping the AVIC-D1, and I found a place that claims to be an authorized retailer selling it for $1117. Maybe you could send me a PM (or post) with the information where you bought yours. Sometimes I don't trust online stores. I'll be shopping for the mirror soon too.

One more thing, I haven't been in a G35 without the premium package yet and I was wondering about the steering wheel adjustments. Does the non-premium have a manual tilt/telescope?

Thanks for your help guys!!!

Getting the car through my girlfriend's business (she works with local dealers and credit unions) so no negotiating was needed...

i think it's going to come down to if you want a nav or not on your car.

If you often find yourself driving in new neighborhoods get the nav, but
if you're like me that will do mostly local driving in areas where you know,
better spend that couple thousand$'s on something else... like
suspension/dressup mods.

Non-premium has manual tilt/telescope. Don't worry, you wont be missing out cuz once its set, you dont have to change it ever again!

Yep manual. Whats with everyone not understanding he is putting aftermarket GPS in? Read his post. LOL!

Anyway, I wouldn't mind having the auto on/off headlights. I now have the same rearview mirror. The dual button I don't care about, and the manual wheel adjustments don't bother me either. For the money you save, you will have a killer audio/video system.

I did the factory upgrades like GPS in my IS300 and regretted it, because I was stuck with my stock HU.
