Re: Getting my car tomorrow.
Congrats, and good luck with it. I just picked up mine 2 weeks ago. You'll love it! I didn't test drive one either before picking it up - in fact, never even sat in one (did drive my uncle's 350Z 6MT before though).
I've heard mixed stories as to when its OK to wax a new car. Some say you can do it right away these days because the paint is oven baked at the factory, and already cured. Others say its still good to wait 2-3 months. I'm going to give it 2 months, so I'm probably going to wax it next week (car was built in May). I'm gonna use Zaino because that's what I use on my Z06, and I love the results. Meguire's is very good stuff too though, in fact that's what I was using before Zaino, and I still use some of their cleaners, etc. And for free, definitely stick with Meguire's!
As for the motor oil, thats a hotly debated subject, but I'm going to stick with the owner's manual recommendation of first oil change at 3,750. I wouldn't put synthetic in until after that, to let the engine break in properly (there are theories that synthetic prevents the engine from breakin in normally). Personally, I think synthetic is a waste of money on this motor, unless you race it or highly modify it with forced induction, nitrous, etc. The owner's manual recommends dino oil, so that's what its going to get.
I used a quality dino oil in my last car, changing it every 3k-5k miles (depending on city or highway driving). It was a '96 Ford Contour, and had 130k miles on the clock. Didn't burn a drop of oil between oil changes, and never did, even at 130k. Had no signs of internal engine wear, no ticking, clicking or anything else. The engine will definitely out-live the car. Using synthetic in this case would have been a pure waste of money, and I think the same will hold true with the VQ.

Re: Getting my car tomorrow.
i test drove the coupe and sedan, but both were automatics. dealer told me to test a 350z to see the 6mt in action.
first thing i noticed was the need to kick up the rpm's a little to get moving. my two current cars and one previous are both manuals so i am experienced. but none of them are "performance" cars.
