Your IP address is "in lamers terms" your social security number for when you're online. Everyone has a unique IP number, and your IP can be tracked by sites, forums, etc...

In this case if you have someone posting under two names but the same IP, it could be one of two possible things:

1 - someone is using computer / network connection under another handle (friend, brother, sister, mom, dad, coworker and so on)... or

2 - You're the second person, trying to make everyone believe you're someone else using a second alias...

Could you be hacked, sure, but the question now becomes, why would a "hacker" waste his time and effort into hacking into your network (comp), to simply use your IP address to come here and post at this forum. If I were a hacker, I would rather use my talent to hmmm maybe route myself through a web of connections, wireless dialog (out of my car, near any wireless network) of ohhh about 10,000 WW/NUS locations, making sure to end at your network/comp (IP), then break into something fun like a syn101 system, what online banking is based on, and then deposit a million buck-a-roo's into my off-shore account, head out of the US, clean house at the bank with my no identy number based pass, and by the time the fed are on to it, they have a trail of 1000's of open network IP's to look into, with your IP being the last.... guess who's door they'll be knocking on first?

pretty, nothing is wrong with your IP address. It's just that if you are on AOL, you are traversing through their network to the Internet. AOL has many gateways to the Internet. This particular gateway has the same IP address that you and the other person are at. nothing wrong with that. it just means that both of you are connected on the same network in AOL.
