Porsche Test Drive
Porsche Test Drive
I posted this in the G35GIRL thread, but I have a feeling it was lost pretty quickly
Wanted to share my experience with you guys:
I test drove a 2005 911 Carrerra Turbo yesterday. Holy S$#$# what a car. My boss is purchasing one and asked me to go with him for a test drive at a local Porsche dealer in Princeton (NJ). THAT CAR FLIES. I was up to 115 on Route 95 in no time and the car feels tight as anything. I still love my G though! You owe it to yourself to try one of these cars out though. Nothing like driving a car worth the amount of a mortgage around hahaha.

I sat in a used '03 911 turbo last week. Cranked the engine.. god. They wanted 90k for it. Wouldn't allow test drives.
Although I love porsches.. the car itself didn't scream 90k+. I'd rather try to find a used 360 modena if I where shopping for a sports car of that calibre (even though its slower).
they are ok but they break alot my boy has one with 800Hp and that thing was stomping EVERYTHING on the road when we went on players run. it killed ENZO's lambos what ever got in the way got ran the **** over but his pretty high maintenance.. I almost bought one for 86K with 18K miles but I changed my mind due the fact that I know I'd go broke trying to mod it like his.
Since I've purchased two Porsches, the Dealer let's me test anything in his showroom with the exception of the GT. The Porsche TT is an awesome car but it's not cheap. Theoretically you can buy one for $118K but most of them in showrooms are in the $130K to $150K range. The curb weight of the car is around 3100 lbs and it has 415 lb-ft of torque and 415 HP. 0-60 is around 4 secs and 40-60 is around an eye blink. I believe top speed is around 190 mph.
The reason for the high price is that Porsche makes so few of these cars that it can't distribute R&D costs among many units. Porsches TTs are relatively speaking practical cars. You can even use one as a commuter. Ferraris are basically high priced toys for the super rich. One of my neighbors owns a a used 360 Modena, and he told me that the 3 year service cost around $12K.

The reality is, Porsche makes the most profit margin per vehicle than any other manufacturer in the world. That's a fact. That means that extra cash you pay for a Porsche goes straight to their bottom line and their coffers. There's not a lot of R&D costs when the basic design of a 911 hasn't changed significantly in the past 30 years. Every new model of 911 has been an evolutionary step, not a revolutionary entirely new car.
Yea..I'm with z06. My understanding of Porsche and their vehicles has always been your paying for the name quite a bit. Your still getting a great car, but your also paying for that porsche logo, a lot more compared to BMW's or Mercedes.
My father worked for Porsche in Germany for a number years, so I'm not going to even get into all this... but most of what's posted here is so false...
All I gotta say is this little bad boy will set ya back a hair under half a mill, and it'll raise every hair on your body, with the turn of the key...

Is it worth it? Some say yea, while others will disagree, but till you've actually owned one, been in one, and walked out of one after a day out cruising, you'll just never understand....
The yellow GT pictured next to my G is owned by my property development team (they own and share a number of exotic cars)... A bunch of crazy guys!

My father has owned 4 Porsches. His current Porsche is an 996 Turbo. That car is terrific quality and will light your pants on fire.
Anyone who claims that Porsches are overrated have apparently never spent time with the car.
Plus, how can you single out Porsche when you talk about "paying for a name"?
You could do the same about any number of cars. How about Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar?
BMW is the biggest rip-off in my opinion. Just compare the 3 series to the G35.

i test drove a 911 turbo with my dad a few months ago when he was getting a new car, he was going to get the cabriolet though, that thing flies. its like a rocket. unfortunately he chose the 645ci instead lol
Couldn't agree with you more. When I took the porsche for a test drive, the first words out of my mouth were HOLY $#*$*# *$#*#. Mind you, I really don't curse that much, but that car blew the pants off me. I loved the digital dash. The leather was immaculate as well as the setup of the nav/sports dials. The sheer performance of that car is incredible. Like I said, I hit over a 100 WITH the top down and the car felt as solid as a rock. Amazing car.... The price tag on a porsche turbo is very high, but for high wealth individuals, the price is a drop in the bucket.
