Half of these people will never end up with the car they specified. This thread became 'your next dream car' thread instead of next 'REAL' car thread

But to answer your question, you can only keep moving up the chain....(some people were leaping over it )

The BMW 2007 M3.

"The 2007 M3 E90 is to be powered by a turbocharged 4.0 L V8 motor. The new M3 will not only have a new power plant, but new body lines as well. This BMW M3 is to be putting down approximately 400 horsepower, applied to the ground with the help of an SMG transmission."

Holla @ me in 2007 if you would like to buy my car...not sure yet how many miles it will have at that time.

I assume the G35 was the first taste of luxury for most people on this board, so they assume that getting a $50K car next is only inevitable. "Oh, how life can change at a blink of an eye!"

Well, I haven't posted what my next car will be yet, but it will be $70K to $100K. In actuality the next car will be for my wife. I had her sit in a M35, and she loved it, but she just wants an Accord or Camry. The next car for me will either be the GTR, next Supra, etc. It has to be at least 400HP, and be a true dedicated sports car.

My wife's income will go up 3x-4x in about 2 years, and my income increased 3x this year with more potential to go up (not hard when you made less than minimum wage previously). So a $70K car should be possible.

300+ yeah right

To safely afford a 100k-200k car.

You have, retirement, taxes, house payments, insurence, current car payments

300+ a year wont do it

I'm going to mad hook up either an ol' 911 turbo (old body style pwns me, the GT2 style)

Or hook up an RX-8. I love those cars.

I'm always going to keep my G35 tho.

That's what a salesman at Towson BMW told me, but who knows.

You can pick up late model turbos for the upper $70s, low $80s. Lots of owners sell their TTs right before the warranty expires. Even in that price range, you would want to have an income of a $150K+ because maintenance ain't cheap for TTs . I believe the median income for a 997 owner is around $170K. The 911 is not the car for your average Joe, and that's why the wealthy like it so much.

I don't know if that is even enough to own a 911 because before the G35 coupe' came out, a representative from Infiniti said in a televised interview that the G35 will be the target-car for middle-aged men who gross $100k per year!

Interesting. They obviously didn't expect the coupe to be such a hit with younger people, who could buy the car either through their parents or spending a significant portion of their income on the car.

(I'm in the latter group, fortunately was able to pay off the car last year).

I know...when you think about it, the G35 is about 1/3 of a $100k annual salary! That's alot of money going to one thing and i know many of us on this board don't make that much per year!

The other option for me is to put in a Twin Turbo kit in a year and a half or two. I think a 65k to 80k car is doable for someone making 100k. Esp without a family. Not necessarily the smartest thing, but doable. Just gotta have your priorities straight.
