Hopefully a Soon to be G35 Project

Hey guys this is my first post here but ive been looking around the forum for about 2 weeks everyday quite often and this is a great site and ive learned a lot about the g and man do i love that car. so first i just wanted to thank all you guys for running such a great site.

But you all know the real reason we are all here is because we all own a G35 and we love them. Well im looking to buying a g and found one that is pretty cheap but the reason its so cheap is that it was in an accident. And the reason is that im looking at this g is because im 17 and not made of money so more then likely this is the only way ill be able to get a g or atleast until im older and out of college which i dont want to do

So ive found one that is local to me and has some damage. Ive attached some pics and would like to know what you guys think and if i should go ahead with the buy and turn the g into and amazing car

Thanks
Kevin12

is it with salvaged title?
it looks like some horrible damage

hmm if there is any frame damage...you are pretty much better off staying away from it.
Plus if you don't have any association with bodyshop or some sort..
I say..stay away from it..
Unless you are experience about fixing cars..

In the long run..you will probably spend just about as much as if you were getting a brand new G35..

I say save up more.. and get a new one..

How much you getting it for? Also seems like it may be something you may be getting in over your head with especially with that much damage. Unless of course you or someone can do all the work. And are you able to title the car? or is it a clean title?

This is 03 5AT Fully Loaded and has around
30,000 miles on it and i can get it for around $10,000
The right front strut also needs to be replaced and thats about it
Also the rear right quarter is being replaced as you read this

As for the titles go im not sure yet still just in the
talking/interested stage with the seller...

um.. i'm pretty sure it's going to need a LOT more than a front right strut..
i would stay away if i were you.. i know you are young and want a nice car but you have to be smarta bout it too or you're going to end up getting yourself in over your head and its' going to turn into a huge headache. the damage on that G looks horrible, i would not suggest you buy it.

Air bags alone will be major coin...
&
I'm sure the pics don't show all (hidden damage)

On top of the cost to fix, it will never drive like a new one

Patience is a virtue man...unless you're an ugly loser in high school trying to gain some sort of notice or respect, I would definitely wait until you have the funds and some sort of perspective on the overall long-term effects of owning a car such as this (i.e. insurance, maintenance, GAS, etc...). All the best to you for whatever decision you make.

If you're looking to rebuild a car like this look for two things: 1) un-damaged frame and 2) airbags that have not been deployed. my friend is in the business of fixing cars like this up and he could probably due a g35 for around 15 to 16k (assuming 1 & 2 hold true) definitely duable if you or someone you know can do it

if you have the right tools (frame machine) and body work equipment i say go for it. By the way, does the G35 have an aluminum frame? if so it cannot be straightend like a steel frame could.

stay away from that, looks like a pain in the azz. just save up a buy either a new one or a slightly used one

don't do it. $10k is way to much. you're gonna spend a grip already just getting the car fixed. plus, the bags deployed....not worth it.
