Its not rear wheel steering as in the rear wheels turn. What Infiniti calls Active rear steer is really a trick suspension that changes the angles of the lower links or something like that. Details are on infinitinews.com

The 2003-2005 models have rear wheel steering.....when you're driving in reverse

I don't think it'd be THAT much to get rear steering. Who knows? Just wait for an 06 with it to get totalled and there you go.

I've got this feature (Rear Active Steering) on my M and it was supposed to be optional on the G's for '06.
Apparantly it is a steering input movement of the rear wheels used in high speed avoidance maneuvers. The rear wheels move about 1 degree in the same direction as the steering input to help high speed avoidance moves and maintain control.
It explains that servo motors act on suspenion arms effecting a 1 degree deflection of the wheels.
I've seen the motors and linkages on my M's rear suspension, but have not tested.
C.
