Off about 95% of the time. It encourages bone-headed driving, IMO. I'd rather not find myself exceeding the limits only to have the VDC pulling me back in time and time again. That's what encourages you to rely on VDC instead of your own good judgement.
I might keep it on in really bad weather, which is seldom around here. My only other consession to the benefit of VDC is it's impact during emergency accident avoidance, but I can still discount that for myself pretty easily.
It's a great system for the inexperienced or for those who lack self-control when it's needed. Saying it would have saved you had it been on isn't a great testimonial, as you can't be certain it would have and it begs the question 'Would common sense or self-control have been just as effective in avoiding the accident?' If the answer is yes, then you shouldn't be turning the VDC off to begin with and a RWD sports coupe might be the wrong vehicle for you until you learn to excercise some control.
If you contend that VDC saved you from a crash, how can you be certain? Did you see the light flashing? Did you let go of the wheel and let VDC work everything out for you? I've had my VDC light up and cut power exiting a corner where, without the VDC on, wheelspin is absolutely imperceptible and must only be just enough to trigger the overly-agressive VDC. Couldn't this be the case in some of those instances as well?
If it wasn't so aggressive in it's operation, I would tollerate it more and might keep it on more often. But as it is, it's like having a blindfolded driving instructor hitting his brake pedal every time he feels like it's needed. Good intentions and perhaps a life-saver for the driver filled with poor choices, but poor execution and potentially dangerous for the real driving enthusiasts, IMO.

i always keep it on. it's gotten more agressive. it used to let me peel out in 2nd gear and such, now its just getting annoying. Oh and its not letting me learn to drive the car properly. I rely on it more and more to just floor it out of corners and i'm not getting any feedback. But it makes me feel safe. So i don't know. There's pros and cons.
It's a safety feature much like ABS. It's there if you ever need it in an unplanned emergency manuever. I leave it on unless I want to specifically drive the car hard so wheel spin etc. does not invoke. In normal driving it's relatively unintrusive.
