06 or 05

I'm thinking of getting a 06 6mt G35 coupe. I just called a dealer and was told that the 06 6mt will not be available until Jan. Is this true?

Anyone getting any discounts on the left over 05 G35 coupes?

I'm driving a 04 TL now and I'm used to bluetooth. Maybe I can live without it.

Jan is when 6MTs usually get released. Marketing strategy.

The quality is not up to par. I got rattles everywhere. Paint peeling on the front bumper.

How is the quality on the G35?

MT was available in January only for the 2005 year. In 2003 and 2004, they were release at the same time as the AT as far as I know. Therefore, there is no trend or marketing strategy. In fact I think that it was delayed in 2005 due to poor organization from Nissan and maybe due to the larger changes in the MT then in the AT.

In 2006, the MT remains relatively the same while the AT gets the big changes and therefore, I don't see why the MT would be delayed this year. In my humble opinion, dealership doesn't know anything and is either telling you this info basing it on the 2005 year or he's trying to pressure you to get a 2005 to try to get rid of them. My guess would be the later.

Keep in mind that like all the luxury japanese company, Infiniti, Acura and Lexus don't tell their dealership anything. Therefore, they are often left to speculate. If they tell you otherwise, they are full of... you know what.

Only time, or a news release, will tell when both the AT and MT will be release this year. I personally think you should wait, you don't want to kick yourself just because you were unable to wait a few months for the official announcement.

Not sure about 04 but the 03 6mt coupe came out about 2 months after the 5at's.

I am in the same situation. I am trying to hold out for an 06MT, the dealers here are willing to take off 4-5K from MSRP. The problem is if I buy an 05 now in a few months it is a year old car no matter what the mileage says. I'm going to wait it out. No doubt you'll get a better deal on the 05 though as they are trying to move them quickly.

Interesting, I don't recall that. Damn, I must be getting really old, my memory failed me. But still, 2 month is not as bad compared to the 2005.

As for the others holding back, I'm sure when the 2006 gets here, the 2005 will still be discounted by that much if not more if you change your mind. So IMO, you're doing the right thing. At least, you get the chance to make an educated decision when both will be in front of you.

Under much dilemma, I decided the same. It's already the end of the year, so I might as well wait for the '06. I'm not that pressed (yeah right), it'll give me time to change my mind a few more times.
I haven't gone to a dealer yet, Any recommendations for the N. Va area?? If I do the UBS, then I have to do it through Bethesda (Jim Coleman Infiniti). I'm not feeling the Tyson's dealership. Maybe the Chantilly one?

Black or Lakeshore...hmmmmmm
