$776 for 30k mile service. Did I get ripped off??

Well, I was just shocked to see the bill... $460 for labor and $296.98 for parts... Total with tax was $776.83. I want to know if this is normal for 30k service or did I get ripped off?

Wow, and I thought Towbin Infiniti out here in Vegas was a rip-off when they said $650 for the 30k service.

I didn't do it.

What did they do besides change the oil? And how much of it was really necessary? Guess I could look in the service journal, but I'm not sure where I put it. I also have an '03 CB/willow, and just broke 30K last week. Brembos were done 2K ago. The car is running great, and I have no desire to have them do anything but change the oil. Am I missing something???

Prior to my G, I had a 2000 528i (the G is sooo much more fun), and one thing I have to give BMW: annual (synthetic) oil changes, and other than that, (assuming you took care of your own tires), there was none of these bogus service interval cash cows.

Guys, let me know if I'm inviting disaster by not letting Infiniti have it's way with my baby when I bring it in soon...

Replace fuel filter? I thought the filter was in the tank. You sure they dropped the tank to replace it?

less ripped off

and more anally ransacked.

Sorry to hear about the rectal pillaging. I usually get an estimate on all things dealership. If you don't they become like itemized Attila the Huns. Very scary.

I thought there were two different 30K mile services (stage 1 vs stage 2). The main difference was flushing the cooling system or something like that... Of course stage 2 was much more expensive, double check with your Infiniti dealership, they may be charging you for the more expensive services. Has anyone else besides me heard of this?

What antenna mast? Reminds me of a simpsons episode dealing with getting a stem-lube.

I tend to distrust what dealers say, and like to do my own service. Some examples:

I had the radiator replaced in my wife's old TL at the dealer. About 2-3 weeks later I came back for other service. They said the radiator needs to be flushed, because the coolant is old/dirty. But they just replaced the whole radiator a few weeks prior, which means it has all new fluid. I asked them about that, and they said they would look into why the master mechanic wrote that.

On a previous occasion, they said I needed new tires, because the tread was low. However, the previous weekend I had 4 new tires installed. I asked them about that, and they admitted they only said that based on the mileage on the car.

On another occasion they said that I needed to have the tranny fluid flushed, even tho I already flushed it previously. They said the warranty would be void if it isn't flushed. I pointed out that the manual stated that a flush wasn't recommended until 60,000 miles, and even than, it said it was recommended, not required. So they changed their story and said you need a special machine to flush the tranny. So I asked them to show me the procedures in the service manual, because I have the service manual, and it doesn't make mention of any such special machine. That's when they backed down.

you got ripped on the materials for sure... labor wise, not sure how long it'll actually take so... but sounds kinda pricy.

Yikes, Rookie84 , next time get the list b4 the service, and find out what you need to have done and what can be left out.
That's a lot of $$$$ for just a 30k service. Jumpn' J C.
