New record...Bose stereo stopped working 10 minutes after install
So I went to the dealership yesterday to pick up my car, got a new tranny, new head unit, life was good. Tranny works fine, stereo works great. I get to the freeway entrance, and WTF....CD stops working!!! I press the AM/FM button then the cd...Err F0 AGAIN!!! I go right back to the dealership and the embaressed look on their face is apparent. Looks like I'm still without a CD player. AM/FM works but I never get recpetion on the the stations I want to listen to, and I'm stuck with Country and NPR.
I guess 3rd time is the charm....Stupid Clarion/Bose Headunit.

Look at it this way, if it breaks again, you could use the ol lemmon law and get a brand new G.

Someone posted on here that the dealer put in a remanufactured/refurbished (AKA USED in my book) HU when he got his replaced. I'd make sure they are giving you a new one, and I'd ask to see the part before they install it. The remanufactured ones apparently have a red or orange sticker on it that says "REMANUFACTERED... WHICH MEANS IT'S GOING TO BREAK AGAIN. ROFL!!!".... I mean just "REMANUFACTERED".

As for the tranny. It's silky and smooth...but maybe a little too smooth. After driving with my last tranny and clutch plate for about 21k miles, I've grown fond of the stiff clutch. With the new one I find I'm lifting my foot off the clutch sooner and causing low rider hydraulics in my car. It's quite emabarressing. But I guess my main gripe is with the clutch plate.
The tranny is less notchy than before, and the shifts are smoother in the higher RPM range. But that is not to say the notchyness is completely gone. Also gears 5 and 6 seem a bit further out. Other than that I'm happy. I just hope I don't have any more problems with this.
They gave me the cd0008 tranny, which is the latest revision, btw.

The third time was the charm for me as well. This problem is just such a joke and I love how the people on the Infiniti 800 number used to tell me that it wasn't a common problem.
The service manager even told me that the problem can stem from using burned CD-R's instead of original CD's. Maybe so if the head unit was made in 1995.
At least it's been over a year since my last replacement....now it's both window motors going south.......

I switched my HU out with the Alpine 9813..plays mp3's and has some cool cross overs and features...it also made the blose sound a lot better...my guess is the stock HU is way underpowered, plus it doesnt have any cross overs or sound tuning abilities.
I might decide to upgrade the component speakers anyway just because the mids are still pretty crappy. But it's a definite improvement over stock.
