metal noises...PLEASE HELP

i have about 900 miles on my 6mt coupe now and when i'm in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear under 2000rpm and i give some throttle i hear what sounds like little metal pieces shaking in a can coming from the engine...i've been told this is normal since it's such low rpm and all the torque or whatever...but i've noticed that it does it sometimes when the rpm is at 2500+....now is this normal? any input would be great thanks!

This doesn't sound normal to me, but then again, I drive an auto.

Noise from the 6MT is normal - what kind of noise is debatable. I don't know if I'd call 'metal pieces shaking in a can' normal. GIve the thread some time and the 6MT guys will tag in.

If it were me, I'd let the dealer give it a listen. Just for piece of mind.

Is the engine pinging? Better to be on the safe side . . . Take it in, if you haven't already done so. Good luck and be sure to post your discovery.

pinging

if your car sounds like marbles dropping in a can its a fuel problem. Make sure you are puting 91 or higher. If so try a different brand and stay away from the little corner stores that buy the cheapest gas from the local suppliers and there volume may be low, so you dont know how long the gas has been in the ground. Gas loses power over time with evaporation of additives. When i had wrx, exxon gas would ping. I have a murano as well and it will do it if my wife uses cheap gas.

Regardless of fuel type / brand I still get this sound.. I'm thinking it's the axle clicking everyone has been having problems with.. except my axle isn't clicking, it's doing something else.. at least that's what Andy suggested. I'll be speaking with Peter M. @ infiniti of serramonte on monday and try to set up an appointment to see if I'm having the same problem as Andy.
