Coupe Rolling By Itself
I had just come home for about an hour and left my 04 6mt in the driveway on the slope. I left it in 2nd gear with the parking brake down and found out my car had rolled to the bottom on the driveway when i came back out. 5th gear grinds sometime as well. Does anyone know would could be the problem? Clutch worn out already at 30k? Did anyone else have this problem. I am out of money and I just spent money on brakes, swaybars, major service, and crawford plenum, hopefully I don't need a new cltuch. Maybe i should have put the parking brake up and it just so happens that if you don't the car rolls downhill? I don't know, any kind of insight would help. Thanks!

i thot parking brakes were used to keep the car parked still, and putting the car in gear is for reassurance??
doesnt sound so smart to park the car with the tranny w/o handbrakes.

if your parking on a slope with the nose up u should throw it in 1st. if it's nose down... throw it in reverse. and make it a habit of using the hand-brake... it's there for a reason. on level grades i usually always leave my car in reverse with the parking brake up (u wouldn't park your automatic with the tranny in neutral would u?). leaving the car in gear with the hand brake up is the best assurance u can have for finding your car in the same spot u left it. if your worried about your hand-brake going loose over time... all u really need is just a little resistance when parking on level grades to hold the car in place. i would really get the tranny checked out by the dealer though if u've got grinding. looks like a few people are getting syncro problems and need them swapped out. hope everything works out for the better.

Maybe the OP is just in a goofy mood and wanted to get lots of responses to a silly post.

If you are being serious then you need to have someone teach you what a tranny is for and what a "Parking" break is for.

Always use the parking brake... I take it a step further, I never let the weight of the car rest on the tranny. (auto or stick) If its an auto, I park, put the car in neutral put the e-brake up, let off the brake so the car rolls back and stops on the e-brake, then I put it in park. Same thing with a stick except after the car rolls back a little bit, I put it in first gear.
Safe way to park a standard
1: Put car In neutral
2: Put the E-Brake Up, Let your foot of the foot break.
3: Then put back In first. ( keep clutch In )
4: Shut off the car.
This will let the initial load/ weight of the car fall to the e-brake not the gears.

Neutral and parking brake for me. Previous car had a turbo and turbo timer, so it's just a habit.
To answer your question though, your clutch isn't slipping. It's your engine compression that doesn't stay constant. Don't worry, that's normal. Rings don't seal 100%, so air slowly leaks by as pressure is put on the piston due to your transmission being in gear with the car on a slope.
Oh, and I was always told that reverse is the steepest gear ratio, so if you want to keep your car from moving it's probably the best gear to leave it in. Does anyone know if that's true with the G35 trans?

Wow. Do you ever use your parking brake or do you just rely on the transmission to hold your car in place? If the latter, I can understand why you have some transmission grind...
