How old are you? Just curious, as I'm 20 and am looking at purchasing a G in the next month or so. I'm worried about all the haters out there. BTW my car would be stock for quite awhile, low profile a.k.a. can't afford to mod it yet

And, when you get keyed, how does it get covered? Can you get a vandalism cause in your insurance? Or is this straight out of your pocket? Thanks allot guys, just doing my research.

i dont think your age matters. its just bad luck. being at the wrong place at the wrong time. unless you know you have haters out there then you should take caution.

I'm 18 years old, got my G when i was 17 and in High School .... i got keyed in my HS parking lot and never found out who it was. There are haters out there, just try not to draw any extra attention to your car by taking two parking spots, parking diagnolly, wheels turned, etc. at a public parking lot . Regardless of the age anyone can get keyed, it just depends on your luck.. Luckily the bastard who keyed me, didn't go deep into my paint and i got my key marks buffed out. Good Luck.

I doubt you will want to go through with insurance company. They will not take care of anything lesser than $500 damage. however, if your damage is above $500 and you want to take it up with them, your insurance premium will rise as well.

If insurance company has to pay for anything, they will raise up your premium. Simple as that.

The question is, would you rather pay 300 - 500 out of your own pocket or have an increase of 50 - 100 extra on your premium. Not 100% sure of the amount they will increasel

You should ask "mc2" about this...he's been keyed TWICE!! I do believe he paid for the damages out of his own pocket though, and there's actually a thread going right now about the repairs done to his car because of the keying.

?? yes it is about luck, but im just trying to tell him not to bring unnecessary attention to his car by parking it in an obnoxious manner... like some people with nice cars do. taking two parking spots, parking sidways etc. I think if you just park it normally, the chances of some one walking by and noticing ur car will be reduced by a significant amount, but if u park it in a certain way that your dying for people to look at your car.. then your asking to be keyed... its sad but its true.

Like I told my friend who just bought a G, "People are haters out there. If your shows the slightest mod, people are gonna hate. People already hate the fact that you drive a G35, let alone your age." Then he replies with "You can't let those haters dictate what you want to do with your car." IMO...I rather not test the waters. Just appreciate the G for how it is stock

I'm 41, never had my G keyed, but have spent more than a couple of hundred in door ding repairs... I always park as far as possible whenever possible but it still happens... Some folks are so inconsiderate!

Even when I park next to a POS I am carefull to not touch their vehicle hoping the same will work for me; it don't!

Uh, don't park next to POS cars... especially the American cars with 2 doors.

I got my G when i was 17 as well. First day i drove it to school i came back to it with a 3 foot long from the passenger door to rear quarter panel. I never found out who it was either, and believe me I don't have any enemies. I don't think it matters how old you are either, if someones bored or simply jealous he'll do what he feels like doing.

On the other hand, I ended up repairing the key mark (which had hit metal) by myself using a wetsand kit and touchup, and to this day it takes me a while to even find it, much less notice it at all.

Due to work I must use public garages sometimes and believe me, I try to pick good spots, but it just don't always work that way... Sometimes the nice car you parked next to is gone and that POS is in it's place...

If anything, i try not to park next to coupes and opt to park next to sedans.. The coupes doors swing out farther and if at all possible, i try to park closer to the drivers side of the other car rather than on the passenger side of the other car. It seems that the drivers are more considerate about their own cars and the passengers tend to swing the doors out farther.. But then again, i usually park far, or if i know i wont be able to find good parking where im going to go, i take my truck..

That's not what you said earlier, you said:

I do the opposite for the simple reason that there's always driver, but not necessarily a passenger.
