Nah dude I'm still 2 min from you. Just changed my location to "SoCal forum" and you're like the 5th person to ask me if I'm there lol.. not yet.
hard to say, i'll pay attention on my way home from school. my guess would be bout 5.5k, but i do it as a secondary reaction, so i never really look to what rpm i'm reving it to. it just always comes out right. practice, practice, and more practice

i'll call u when i get home, if u wanna check out the new wheels

I disagree, usually when I am in 6th I am doing at least 80 mph, so a downshift to 5th gives me plenty passing power even tho I could go to 4th. Maybe I'm just a tight wad when it comes to my gas consumption.

Do you realize that 80mph is 15 over the highway speed limit in my county and 25 over the limit in the neighboring Miami-dade county? Jeez G drivers these days I was talking about normal driving at ~65-70.

Do you guys shift into neutral, then rev match? IE: Clutch in, shift to neutral, release clutch, gas to rev match, clutch in, shift to whatever gear, release clutch?

I am curious to see how people downshift or the correct way to do it.

When things go fast and perfect, as I pull it out of gear, I blip the throttle right as I'm entering the desired gear and release the clutch.

Otherwise (and much more commonly), I usually clutch-in, change gears, then blip the throttle right before I release the clutch. For me, it's less about having the gears mesh better (since we have synchros to accomplish this) and much more about not upsetting the balance/chassis due to the downshift. Extremely critical when entering corners hot.

You sure its not just play in the rear diff? I mean, if youre coasting in a high gear at a not-so-high speed and you stomp on the accelerator you're more often than not going to get a pretty heavy THUNK feeling from the rear end.
