Re: Coupe seatbelts

Bottom line guys.......hate to say it.......but it's just a Nissan, only rebadged for us picky Americans. Not up to par with the likes of Lexus. Lexus made a big break from it's Toyota name brand. Too bad Infiniti can't do the same.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

This is funny. I thought I was the only one with this problem, so I never said anything. Us poor short people. No respect.

Thanks for the links. I'm not sure how a seatbelt extender would correct the situation? I'm trying to picture it in my mind, it seems it would simply make the seatbelt longer, not change the position where it crosses the body.

I'm gettin tired of it though - especially if I've been driving for a while, I have a nice red mark on my neck when I get out of the car.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

yes, i agree, i don't understand how adjustment of the height on the buckle end would resolve this. I have also heard of someone getting a passanger side receiver (its shorter) put on the driver side. Again, i don't see how any height adjust on that end would help.

I can assure you the cushioner will solve the problem. But, it will keep the belt from retracting fully and is a little of a pain to have to slide onto your shoulder.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

Ditto.
I have been getting chafed by the darn seat belt. If it was adjustable, I'd lower it so it won't rub against my neck. I am 6'2 but still the seatbelt rubs against my neck....
Will get a cover for it soon. I also noticed belts retracting when it shouldn't...still a beautiful car no matter what.

Huh - I'm really surprised. I'm only 5" 8" and the belt has never bothered me. I wear it all the time. Maybe it's because my legs are short and torso long, so my seat is sort of reclined? Never had a problem though.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

I always wear my seatbelt, and never noticed a problem. I do want to get a protector, to protect the leather from the seatbelt rubbing up against it.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

Try this...take the drivers seatbelt extension (the plastic piece that sticks out about 5 inches from where the seatbelt retracts) and fold it down to the lowest postion....you should hear it click at it's lowest postion....now, if I can just figure out how to keep it locked in the down postion it works Great! I will play with it a figure out a solution for us.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

I really do appreciate/respect everyone's feedback on the matter. However, I feel it's a design flaw partly due to the heavily bolstered sides of the seat.

It's just unfortunate that the most common passive SRS system in car from a luxury marque (moreover one that isn't/wasn't often readily available for test drive before delivery) can be so uncomfortable for many drivers. My dealership and service advisors actually told me "Are we going to change the design for one person, probably not."

With that said, in a TSB, Infiniti has already had issues with the bolstering/power seat adjustment on the right thigh and thus consumer's issues of comfort have been addressed. It's time for a TSB for the seatbelt, provided we relay our concerns back to Infiniti. (ICA 800.662.6200) Then maybe they can retrofit an adjusment, seat bracket, etc... because many people have and will have this safety/comfort issue.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

I know this is an old topic, but after getting delivery of my 04 Coupe last week, I just wanted to put my two cents in. After being overly concerned about the seatbelt pulling on my neck during the times I test drove the Coupe, I started getting myself crazy. I looked into the seatbelt pads and even ordered the seatbelt extender. I am 5' 6" and like my seat at it's highest position. After trying the seatbelt pads, and extender to no avail,, I tried a new technique. I lowered my seat! wow.. no more problems! After all ... this car is not an SUV anyway so why should I need to sit so high up! Anyway, I hope this might be of some help to anyone with a similar issue. If possible, according to your own height, try lowering the seat height. If not totally perfect, it can make a big difference.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

I thought I was the only one experiencing this unfortunate flaw. Even on my test drive it was bothering me already. The salesperson said I just haven't found my correct driving position. So I go home in a 04 coupe that night and tried experimenting with different kinds of driving position to no avail. That stupid seatbelt is just strangling the life out of me. I tried lowering the seat to its lowest position and moving the seat back as far as my legs can reach the pedals and it still does the same thing. It just pulls and pulls the belt tighter and tighter. I'm constantly pulling the belt back to loosen it's grip around my neck and shoulder area. I almost bought the seat belt extender but when I saw the damn thing I don't think it's going to make a difference so I didn't even bother with it. I'm only 5' 7" and I thought it was because they designed it for taller drivers which obviously is not true.

I remain a great fan of this car simply because it's a great looking car. I cannot complain about the price because I think I got my monies worth on this purchase.

Re: Coupe seatbelts

Yeah, I'm 5'10" and still bothers me...If I called change just one thing...this would be it...shitt, I'd be willing to give up sex for month if I could just get this seatbelt adjusted!!!! It's way too tight, causing pressure on my collar bone...or maybe I just need to eat more? lol...........Nah, I don't think so! BTW, I have my seat in the lowest postion...I have mentioned it to my dealer twice, but they have no solution for me.....basically, just suck it up.
