Oops? Lower than recommended Octane

I thought I had put Octane 91 into my g35coupe but just looking at the receipt here, it shows that i put 30L of Octane 87.

Is this bad? I've been driving for the past 4 days and haven't noticed any difference or haven't heard of any knocking.

I wouldn't be too worried.

Keep topping off with 91+ as you go along....or syphon it and sell it to me for 0.99 a gallon since its second hand fuel.

Keep using it! Let us know first hand if 91 is really required.

89 is all you need anyway. as long as you switch off with the top shelf gas ever 3 or 4 tanks there will NOT be a problem.

Dude, you just ruined your engine!!!
That's equivalent to having urine in your tank. Damn, trade the car in quick!!!

I tried urine when I was camping and ran out of fuel...if you mix it with vodka it'll get you to the nearst gas station.

It's sugar that will bog you down.

Infiniti's official line is that the car is made to run on lower octane fuel, but you should keep the rpm's at a minimum; i.e. be light on the pedal. Your car will be fine; don't sweat it.

This is true. The ECU is programmed to use/run on both octane levels. There's no way it will void or mess up your engine. However the performance will drop a bit.

I use '87 octane down here in the country and it runs smooth as silk. Dont worry if there was '85 I would use it also. Cheaper

I second that and it's also a fact. There's nothing wrong running with 89 octane but if you're trying to be cheap, think about it this way: $0.10 more for the highest grade gas x 16 gals = $1.60 for better performance and not to mention removing some of the extra contaminents in your tank.

Your knock sensor will retard the timing to keep you safe for the most part. There are a few threads about this issue. Don't forget that your manual says you can run 87 for short periods as long as you don't drive hard.

Wha?? Don't know what your source is, but the manual says 91 minimum. And I do agree with others that you can run lower octane if required, just don't rev it.

I have no idea what you're saying about switch off with the top shelf gas ever 3...
