I also vote for the 05. The only reason why I'm even considering the G35 now is because they upgraded the interior.

I just bought a new 2005 Coupe 5AT yesterday. The dealers are really aggressive on moving out the '05s right now. I picked up the car for $35K even (+TTT) which is $1000 below invoice. I was initially looking at used, but the price differential wasn't all that great between the new and used, so I made the stretch and bought new!

here's a pic 2hrs after I brought her home:

The 19" forged wheels are sweet, and will save me a few thousand as I won't have to buy wheels/tires for this car.

The G35C's stable mate is a '94 Mustang Cobra tracked prepped with complete aftermarket suspension, rollcage, and tweaked engine making 300rwhp. Beauty and the Beast I guess?

Agreed. Get the 05. Plus, they are moving them out quickly these days so you should get some really good deals. Forget about the Brembos. They are nice, but you can upgrade to even better brakes later (yes, better than the brembos and can even chose your own color, I personally don't like the gold color myself). As for the increase in HP? Nah, it doesn't really make a difference unless you readline the car. That's where all the extra HP comes into play. Lost in Torque? Again, you won't noticed the difference.

I say, sit in an 03-04 and 05 and you'll will know what we are all talking about in regards to the interior. Also, the 19's rims are much nicer (IMO) than the 18's. The tires are better too (do the research, they are the Potenza's RE 050). So there you have it.

My only reason was that for a regular driver, who doesnt track the car, they will see a very marginal performance difference between the 03-04.5 brembos and 05 brakes. But everybody will always see the difference in the way nicer interior and features. And also the rotors/pads can be upgraded to provide much less fade for way under $1000. Thats why I did on my 03 ... stillen Xdrilled/Slotted rotors + green stuff pads... huge difference in stopping power and fade.

btw I do like the gold colored calipers
Thanks, I do like em' Gold too, but sometimes I drive the f*** out of the car and I use every bit of the brakes capabilities... When I drove an 05 5AT (05 6MT's weren't out yet) I did 3 100+MPH to 0MPH stops and the brakes where fading by that 3rd stop, the next stop was very bad... That convinced me to get the 04; there is a big difference when driving hard, For Real and just think how much better they will perform with Xdrilled/Slotted rotors, you just cannot compare a 4 piston system to a single piston system... Anyway, all the G's are nice and the 06 will be nicer, then the 07, 08 and so on... No big deal... I really await the GTR's arrival, I've been a nismo fan ever since my dad bought his first 240Z and this 04 G is just a pacifier until then.

Yeah, agreed, but you can also upgrade the interior and electronics later if you have an 03-04... You do feel that 10ft\lb torque loss when the car is loaded; full tank, 3-4 people, luggage... There are a group of us that commute to work, John bought the first G35, a sedan, since then 3 of us have purchased G's and all of us can notice the difference when driving in the 2 05's, it's not a big difference, but it is noticable. FYI- all 4 G's feel pretty slow with 4 of us in there...

OK, if you are going to load up the car with three extra folks plus accessories, then get the 03-04 Hehe. Really, I think there is no difference in Torque and HP between the models. Really. They are pretty much the same and marketing guys are playing tricks on our minds BTW, the 05's have 2 pistons up front and single pistons in rear. Also, if you decide to do the crazy 100 to 0 three times in a row as a regular commuter, more power to you and the 03-04's are for you!

Stopping from 100 mph to Zero three times in a row...sheesh! OK, so back to earth now! Personally, I say get what you like. Everything can be upgraded that isn't tied down so I say, get what feels good to you. The only thing I can say is test drive them both of them. Oh, and BTW, try and remember the issues that were plagueing the 03-04's (e.g. clicking axle, windows rolling down, etc.) when you do decide to get a car. I believe most of those issues were dealt with on the 05's (even the 04.5's) so make sure they don't have any of those issues when you do get one. Good Luck!

Good reply, best one yet... I already did my testing, made my decision and spent my money on the 04.5... I started these replies because some people that have 05 seem to think the car is so much better than the prevoius years... I remember before the 05's were out and people with the 04's did this ... Next yeat the folks with the 06's will do the same, it's funny how it goes on & on.

Oh yeah, I appoligise for the calipers, I read they were single piston online somewhere... Actually, I should have said opposing pistons, that is what makes the setup so different, I'm sure the 05's have a good system, just not as good IMHO.

Yeah, I agree. I like all the cars really. No hatred here I do wish our came with the Projectors though. If we can get the brakes on the 03-04's and add the projectors from the 06's on the 05's we would be set!
