Should I go with an 03/04 or 05 G35C?

Hey Guys,

I've been thinking long and hard about which car I should get next and I'm pretty certain that it will be a G35C. I'm just wondering which model year would be the best to purchase.

I've read a few threads about the 03's having some issues with the trannies, tire feathering, brembo brakes not lasting long and expensive to replace (I think this is the same with the 04's?), Window motors breaking down, etc...Does this happen with all 03's?

I know that the 05's had a makeover in the interior, don't come with the Brembo brakes (so that takes care of the costs of replacing the brakes all the time) and they come with 19" rims rather than the 18" ones.

I was looking at posts on the autotrader and there were some decent deals on the 03's and some on 04's...I won't be purchasing my car until probably between August 2006-March 2007 depending on when I see a good deal.

So should I just concentrate on getting an 05? Any other pros and cons I missed on deciding which model year to get?

Thanks

05 .... nicer interior, nicer rims, most likely no trans issues, higher redline, 0 dust brakes. Basically all you loose over 03/04 is just the gold colored calipers ... but gain so much more!

ahh and I forgot to add ... MP3 player built in

i'd definitely get the 05 for the interior. they refined it a lot x10.. you can always replace your brakes to brembos anytime.

You mean Colored 4 Piston Calipers that would cost you 3K+ to purchase & properly install the system to replace your single piston setup, The rims, well thats a matter of taste and many people really do like the 7 spoke 18s better, the trans is not an issue for many people, mine is rock solid, love it. Higher redline, so what, you lost 10ft\lbs of torque for that, don't pull up on the side of an 03-04 6MT when you are both loaded down, that 10ft\lbs makes a difference pulling weight, do the math... Man 3K+, now thats alot of mods and I never have brake dust on my wheels, I love to keep em' clean... Stop hating man, the G gets alittle better every year, but dropping the Brembo's was a big mistake for this machine; Example: wanna' race down a mountain pass? I hope not; the fade can kill you. I actually cancelled my 05 order when it was confirmend the Brembo's were not available... I can aquire many mods for 3K+, for about 2K more I could have a nice FI system, and I could stop amazingly fast, over and over and over again! To each his own...

I been seeing alot of people praising the 05's and that is great, be proud of whatever year G you have, track numbers show there is very little difference in times and\or speed and my buddy says when driving down the freeway in his 05 with the AC runnig, he usually downshifts to accelerate, but when he drives my 04 or mikes 03, he dosen't feel the need to, he said you can just ease on the gas an ours accelerate better; that makes sense, it's that 10ft\lbs of extra torqe being used.

Also, I will probably buy the second year production GTR when it arrives and I bet it does not come with single piston calipers, they don't put those on serious performance cars, but these Brembo's sure feel nice on my sports coupe.

lol I knew somebody was going to reply to that one thing I wrote about the brembos just like you did ... dude you the one hating haha but whatever. My only reason was that for a regular driver, who doesnt track the car, they will see a very marginal performance difference between the 03-04.5 brembos and 05 brakes. But everybody will always see the difference in the way nicer interior and features. And also the rotors/pads can be upgraded to provide much less fade for way under $1000. Thats why I did on my 03 ... stillen Xdrilled/Slotted rotors + green stuff pads... huge difference in stopping power and fade.

btw I do like the gold colored calipers
