G35C Harsh auto shifting

First of all, this car is awesome. I have only owned this car for about 10 days now and I absolutely loves it. Saw one comming the other way and we both honk at each other the same time and smiled. I have notice that shifting in the coupe's 5 speed auto is harsher than the 5 speed in the g35 sedan because my brother has a sedan and it shifts like butter and the coupes shifts like a old honda transmission, no offense to honda. I was wondering if it could be the 20 more horses power. Happy motoring.

Hmmm... I don't know. Now, in manual mode there is an issue with the car having a rather violent 2-1 downshift. But, in auto mode my coupe shifts just like the sedan. Since your car is so new, maybe the tranny needs to break in a little, or an ECU reset would help. If it is really bad, take it to the dealer.

Oh goodness where are you from? I seen that in a Brady Bunch Episode a LONG time ago, but I would think now-a-days people won't even bother to do that. After all you should only be honking to avoid an accedent ;-)

Here's a solution for your problem.

Pop your hood, open the small compartment to where your batter is located. Just take off the left part and right part of the battery. The + and -, then wait about 30 minutes to 1 hour and then slide them back over the battery and start your car. Drive it around for a little bit and you shall notice the tighter shifting it get's. Enjoy !!

Re: G35C Harsh auto shifting

I think your auto shifting will smooth out as the car breaks-in. Mine did. However, if you do the reset of the ECU you will probably be back to the harsher shifting.
I personally an very impressed with the automatic in my car. It seems to be in the right gear all of the time, and the automatic up-shifts and down-shifts seem perfect. The only problem I have ocassionally noted is the abrupt 2-1 downshift while in manual mode, that others have also mentioned.

From 1 to 2 to 3rd gear.

I have now conclued that within the next 3-4 years no other car make can built something this beautiful and priced it at the current price. Best investment in a performance luxury sports coupe right now.
