Shift lock tool

For the 5AT, if the battery goes dead and you have to resort to manually taking the car out of gear, you're supposed to release the shift lock by inserting the tool which is in the trunk. My questions are: 1) does the 6MT come with this tool?, if so, what purpose does it serve, 2) how is the cover removed? (tool is too think, and too tight with fingernails) This is assuming you're stranded somewhere and you don't have any tools, and 3) what's the 10mm wrench side of the tool for?

6MT models don't have a shift lock so we don't get the tool. Just pull it out of gear and you're in neutral. From past experience, you should be able to pop the cover off with your key or even a paperclip and inserting your key into the slot to release the shift lock.

So I guess the 6MT has an empty spot by the jack where this tool normally goes? A key won't fit either, the only thing that I see working is a small flat bladed screwdriver, or pocket knife, of which I normally don't have on hand.

My wife has an '05 AT Pathfinder and I remember seeing the same thing in the Owner's Manual. I seem to recall it specifying a flat-head screwdriver. Hope that's of some help.
