Also, I'm inclined to believe that our tranny is a Getrag, because here are some of the things that I've heard about Getrag trannies:

* weak synchros
* gear grinding issues (probably because of the weak synchros)
* Getrag doesn't like people fixing their trannies, they'd rather swap out the entire tranny.

I find it easy to believe that we have a Getrag since some Z and G owners have experienced the above things characteristic of that tranny.

Thanks again for the advice, although I dont know if I am more confused or less! Sounds like this noise that I am experiancing could be a few different things. I found the thread on my350Z that talked about some trans noise and that was interesting. I guess the good thing is that with 45,000 miles left on my warranty, I will just drive it untill something happens and then if the dealer tries to blame me I will just refer them to the two documented times that I brought it in already.
