Question What is it about the G?

On my way home from work Saturday afternoon, heading west on SR-112 (SoFla), i see a yellow speck in my rearview, approaching quickly. I paid no mind to it. Next thing I know, some guy in a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo, rolls up next no me, and just "hangs out" next to me, even though the road was completely open ahead of him. Since he saw I was not paying any attention to him, he starts to punch it, and then fall back, get in front of me, behind me, and back next to me. All along, I am thinking to my self "why?? my G is bone stock. Its an '05, with barely 2500 miles on it. Why would he want to race me, or better said, even waste his gas beating me?", so he guns it finally, and just for ****s and giggle, i do too, and since the road was completely clear ahead of me, I play cat and mouse with him. By the time he is a full train length ahead of me, I finally reach 90 mph, and just let off the gas. His exit was also my exit. I was completely dumbfounded, as to why a guy driving a $200k V10 beast, want to race a guy driving a $36k car. That night, on my way back from dinner, a guy in a G sedan also was messin with me, and since my g/f was in the car, and I don't do stupid $hit with passengers in my car, I didn't even bother. A few miles down the road, a black lowered coupe with either black or gunmetal wheels, also starts the toying game! WTF????

So what is it about the G? That even a stock G will provoke a Lamborghini driver to want to race?

You just can't ignore the sexy lines of the coupe. I had the same type of encounter only mine was with a Ferrari F430. I was merging a highway (I-287 in Westchester county, NY), where all of the sudden I see a red spot closing on me FAST. Judging from the low and wide profile I knew immediately it was an "F"...

The guy slows down and just sits on my a$$. Next he moves to the left lane (I was in the middle), hangs around with me, checking out the G, the all of the sudden gives me a little nod with a smirk, squeezes his little paddle shifter and that thing just took off. I almost wet myself from the sound. I had to play some cat and mouse with him. That sound was to die for. Eventually, I guess the guy had enough of me and just took off. I've never seen a car disappear so fast.

There are lot of Ferraris here in the area, but most of them are driven by old rich farts, who can't even appreciate what they drive. That was the first time I actually saw a Ferrari "in real action"

A lot of the people in my neighborhood give my car a "look" but most of the people with good cars are old farts that don't want to fool around which is fine with me. For whatever reason I get these morons in SUV's that will try to race me and cut me off more often than I get someone with a sports car.

Here in SoCal, I on a regular basis, mostly on Imperial highway in Brea, get people in civics, evos, corvettes, supras, old 300zx's, old 240sx's, old SC400s, accords, S2000s, TLs, RX-8s, mustangs, eclipse turbos, scions, and an occasional SL500. But what I dont understand is why other G's will be trying to race me. Thats so retarded.

I think people just like racing the G35, either to see how their car will do, or to show us that our car is not as great as we think they are.

Screw em.

I've had my car for 6 months now in Socal. I have never been challenged to a race or anything. Either way, street racing is pretty juvenile.

i used to get a lot of unwanted attention from people who wanted to race.. lately, not as much.. the latest incident was when i was just cruising on the highway going about 75 past this vw golf, and the guy just got on my tail and drove around me real fast and swung right in front of me.. then he floored it all the way to the next exit.. i was pissed, but only because he almost hit my car and cause the loud exhaust woke up my gf.. she looked up and saw the golf and looked at me and rolls her eyes at the exhaust and went back to sleep..

i'll admit, i used to be really easily egged up by people who wanted to go at it, but now, i just let it roll off.. the best experience i always have is when i'm riding in my other car and people rev, and i look at them, smile, and give them the "i give up" gesture.. that throws off people more than anything.. maybe old age is hitting me already (at 24)

LOL, it might be only a $36k ride, but its looks and panache are priceless.

I would take all those chance meetings as compliments.

I have only seen a couple of coupe Gs around where I live and so when someone sees me they always want to race me. But it if normaly something that can not hang up with me. Like last night it was Grand Prix GTP with five people in it. He had no chance what so ever.

Street Racing is Juvenile to some...
But it still gets the best of us.

Last week, I had a white 05 MAXIMA rev up on me and just had to show him:
G ownz Maxima Period.

Last night, i come up to an Evo8. Not sure what he had but i'm assuming stock. Couldn't really hear a blow off valve. But i know the thing had an exhaust.
We were rolling at around 65. The Evo gets behind me and tails me.
Gets over on the next lane and starts to pass up.
I drop two gears into 4th and take off.
I was either inchin away or dead even cuz he couldn't catch up.

I shut down to smile at him. But he started to switch lanes away from me.

Looked like some college freshman chump.
Showed up by a heavy NA coupe with me and a passenger.

TOO GOOD!!!
