After driving for an extended period I can feel the engine bay heat around my feet at the pedals. It is pretty normal for a car like this...especially when you are closer to the engine

While the heat in the engine-bay is normal, as well as some radiant heat making it's way through the firewall and into the footwells...
...it still seems like hot air is being dumped down there from the A/C ducts. The sensation increases with speed. That's not just radiant heat. It's being forced in, and it can't be through the firewall.

With Crawford Headers and the S/C (and the fact that's it's always 100 degrees in Florida) I think I have you all beat for the 'under the hood' high temps.
It's so hot that running the A/C forces the fan to stay on and our cars make another 5rwhp on the dyno.

that makes me feel better.. knowing that it's normal to feel the heat in the cabin as well.
with the cold air coming in (NYC) im sure it wont be as bad.

Yes it gets hot, but not abnormally. Originally Posted by rick505

As long as the engine temp gauge is showing normal, then all is well.

WHAT! YOU FEEL THE HOT AIR INSIDE OF THE CABIN? Something is seriously wrong there. Maybe you should get that checked out. j/kOriginally Posted by rick505

I think he's talking about the foot-roasting problem that's been pretty common... ...in addition to the underhood and under-car heat.

i feel heat through the seats... and it isn't the seat heaters. Maybe residual heat from the engine?

it's not as serious as i may have made it seem. every car i've driven has got SOME hot air into the cabin from the engine bay. that part is normal, just wasn't sure about the amount of heat coming from the engine bay which other drivers claimed to be normal.Originally Posted by neffster

was concerned because i've never owned a car that got this hot. then again i've never owned an engine that was larger than a 3.0.
when i first drove my car home, i noticed a smell of plastic burning. is this morning as well? could it be the fumes from the rubber burning off because it's new? the smell is still there but its fading away.

you will get that smell for the first 500 miles or so.

Probably though the drivetrain. The middle console gets pretty warm after a long drive.Originally Posted by waterp7

I miss that lightly burning plastic smell from when it was brand spanking new. I would go into the garage every so often just to smell it. Ahhh memories......

yes that is normal. It's your car cooling down.
As for the people having problems with their AC vents giving off heat, make sure your heater temperature is set low. If your heater temp is set to 90 degrees, hot air will come out, even if it isn't on. If you set it to 60 degrees, you'll notice cooler air come out, again even if it's not on.
