coupe cigarette lighter outlet

Anybody use this for anything besides the lighter? I used it to hook up my 8500 today and it worked ok, but the manual does not recommend power anything else but the lighter in this outlet. Seems to be the only option besides hard wiring the radar?

Is the worst thing that can happen a blown fuse?

Its perfectly safe to use it for the 8500; they are mainly talking about high wattage items.

Xcelr8 you probably blew a fuse.

Thanks, just needed a little reassurance, before I decide to hardwire. It's ok to leave it plugged in to the lighter outlet when the car is off right (the lighter power will not turn on unless the key is in acc or the car is on?)

I use the right one for my Piggy sniffer.

I use the left one (cig lighter) for my Gtech RR mostof the time, however, I uplug it now and again to charge my cell phone if I'm in a rush. I occasionally plug the piggy sniffer into the cig lighter and hook up my ipod with FM transmitter in the right one (the ****ers big, it really gets in the way on the left).
