i hope you guys aren't driving 120-140 on the streets..

i wouldn't turbo or supercharge your g35 if it was a daily driver... I had a 400 wheel horsepower Evo and it was not a fun daily driver.. was a great track car.

Supercharger will not feel at all stock below 3300.... a Turbo will feel stock probably below about 2700 RPM's, depending on what turbo setup you go with.

Turbos take time to spool, and as engine RPM's build up the increased exhaust force powers the turbos. This requires higher engine RPM's to build full boost(depending on the size of the turbo... small turbos spool faster but provide less maximum boost).

A supercharger, on the other hand, is powered by a drive belt that spins with the engine all the time.... which means that it can provide power all the time, even at lower RPM's.

It won't have that much of a gain. If we want 30 WTQ and 20 WHP, we'd most likely have to get a low-boost supercharger or a combination of about 15 other mods. I realisticly don't think a new plenum on the VQ could give us more than 8-10 or so WTQ and maybe 10-15 WHP tops. These engines are already tuned pretty high from the factory and most of the existing aftermarket plenums don't give you anywhere near that much of a gain(unless you couple it with forced induction).

Gains like 20 WHP and 30 WTQ might be gained on a Chevy pushrod V8 from new intake equipment..... but not on a VQ.

Evilspeed.... The best way to gain significant low end torque is through a supercharger... but adding one will most-likely void the manufacturers warranty(I believe there was one low-boost supercharger kit out there that had a warranty of its own for like 3 years/30K miles, but I'm not sure which it was). If you want to get crazy with your boost levels, then you should probably do a full engine build up with forged internals and low compression pistons, because the stock compression ratio is too high.

If you decide not to go with a supercharger, you could probably go out and spend $3K on intakes, plenums, exhaust, headers, and ECU reprograms and only expect to gain about 15-20 WTQ. If blinding speed is your goal, it's not going to come cheaply to you in our beloved G35s. Maybe trade in your G35, and buy a GTO and supercharge it... then you could have a 550 HP speed demon.

I think you guys are missing the point that the supercharger or turbo is only pushing 7-8 psi on the VQ. Yes, the Vortech will feel stock below 3000 rpm and the single turbos hit boost at 3k and in full boost of 8 psi by 4k. That's hardly lag in my book. As a matter of fact, boost in the single turbos comes in so fast that traction becomes and issue. Boost in the centrifugal Vortech starts at 3k and you'll get 8 psi at redline...very linear, but below 3k is like stock.

F/I will give both more torque and horsepower. There is no substitute though for the torque from a V8/sc like the Cobra and it is doubtful even a well modded G will ever give you that kind of kick and torque on the low end.
