weight of the oem 19in wheels?
So the 19" OEMs are about 21 lbs each?!? Is it really going to be possible to get a lighter 19" wheel without going with Gram Lights? I want to go 19" Volk CE28N but have yet to find a wieght on them in that size. To make matters worse, I wanted to go an inch wider (per wheel) front & rear. Couple that with wider tires and I think my lightweight wheels are going to add weight.
If I could be assured of getting the same bronze finish that's on Volk's CE28N, and it was just as durable, I'd give a lot of thought to painting my OEM 19s. With weights being close, and with the spoke style being similar, changing wheels suddenly becomes a matter of a simple color change for me. It's going to be harder to justify spending the $3K or so without a reasonable weight redcution as well.
The G35C 19" OEM wheels have been weighted around 19.5 to 21lbs with the rear being alittle heavier than the front. The construction on the OEM rims are rock solid though, it should be much stronger than the wide lip aftermarket wheels. As far as i know, only Volks TE37 (LE37t) and CE28N (LE28N) are lighter than the stock 19" forged rims, but they cost more than twice as much on the market place. Not to mention most people get 9.5 + 10.5" width aftermarket rims with 245 & 275 width tires that will probably weight more than the stock 19" setup.
**Though I have to admit the stock Bridgestone RE050A are frigging heavy.

hehe. Please let's not do the 03-04 vs. 05 battle. I'm just saying the 05's have nice Rims compared to ONLY the 03-04's Rims. NOTHING ELSE!

I also like the OEM Bridgestone RE050A tires, except for the loud-*** roar at highway speeds. I only have 850 miles on them, but they were that way from Day One and 13 miles.
The performance from them has been great, IMO, and they don't make a sound when they break free a little.
I like the looks of them (compared to the stretched sidewall that some people run) and absolutely love the wheel-protection ring around the edge of the wheel's lip. Saved a rim from a little scuff not long ago. Not sure if other manufacturer's have this feature.

I weighed my OEM 19" wheels without tires and they were 22.3 lbs (front) and 22.8 lbs (rear). This was done on my digital bathroom scale, so I'm sure the numbers aren't as accurate as they could be, but should still be fairly close.
The wheels are 19x9 front and 19x9.5 rear.
NOTE: sizes listed above were typo. Actual sizes are: 19x8 front; 19x8.5 rear.
