Updating Nav DVD?

I have an '05 w/ Nav and just got a notice that the updated DVD is available. How often do you update DVD's (i.e. does much change year-to-year)?

If there has been a lot of construction going around your area or state, and you travel thse areas frequently then you should get an update. Otherwise Id update every two years or so.

I have an 05 with Navi and didn't receive any notice. I wonder if there is any significance behind the notification or they just trying to get you to spend money.

I really don't think you need an update... for me, I just use it to guide me to a general direction and use googlemaps as a guide for the small details. But I mean, if it's like 5+ years old, then do get an update!

I think you can order them at the dealer. I don't know how much it costs, but I am sure its going to be a decent amount.

is it going to just add roads or does it change the whole set up of the system? If it gave it a more refined look, that would be great.

You don't have to update so frequently. Not unless you think your $$$ is burning a hole in your pocket. I have not updated my other car's DVD, and it's a '02. Works fine still and I travel 2-3 days a week with it.

1) I have version 6.1 disc with my 03 and the lack of info on the disc is very disturbing to say the least. I couldn't find a friend's address though the house is over 10 years old. Chino Hills is a big blank, so is some newer neighborhoods. I'd definitely recommend an update for the 03 owners. I believe from 6.3-->6.4 there has not been too much changes.

2) You should also get the software update CD to make the NAV run better. (supposedly this makes the NAV load faster, more consistent and fix some software bugs)

3) Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the NAV update disc from Zerin, $190 is a frigging rip off. I just bought a copy from Ebay for $90 with the programming CD rom.

4) While they are at it, why don't they come up with a new joy stick for us 03-04 owners, because I am so sick of that stupid button.

the real question is why doesn't someone send me a copy so that i can bittorrent the file, or even email it to people.
