thinking about selling the G
i drove my friends auto coupe today and damn that was a smooth ride
it is much more smoother than the 6MT
i wish i got the auto instead of the stick
cuz here in NJ .we have alot of traffic and all u do is keep shifting between 1st ,2nd and 3rd
i might sell my G for an auto

Re: thinking about selling the G
some people are actually stating that their area has worse traffic than los angeles--an area that always tops the list for the worse traffic congestion. just the fact that the carpool lane is enforced 24/7 just gives you some idea of how bad it is. come on people!!!!

I drove both MT and Auto... Glad I got the auto... MT is too buggy... It can be smooth but not in stop and go traffic.. I drive in LA traffic everyday and glad I got the Auto...

I feel for ya' Klez. I have an AT on order. As long as there's plenty of power I don't need to be shifting all the time. After an hour on a stop-an-go freeway manual doesn't seem so fun.

Drove a stick for 23 years and finally bought an automatic. After 23 years the fun of a stick kinda' goes away.

Same here. I haven't driven stick as long as you but after awhile, the fun goes away.

I don't know what the big deal is. You can go like 1 mph in first gear without a problem and if you know how to use a clutch you can keep the car going smooth. I drive frequently in manhattan in my 6MT with no problems at all.

Re: thinking about selling the G
I live in Alpine (for you NJ people), and I come home on the week-ends from my college in Long Island and I usually get screwed in traffic. I almost always hit traffic in my manual transmission Jetta (I have a G35 Coupe coming in a week !!!!!!!!!!!!!), and it is insanely annoying. I chose to get the 6-Speed version because it comes with stiffer suspension for better handling and the bigger Brembo brakes. Plus, when I test-drove the G35 Coupe, I really enjoyed it...shifts are clear and precise and the clutch was fun to modulate. Sure, I'll be annoyed when college starts again this Fall and I'm sitting in traffic, but I still have the energy for stick shift, and it's worth it. =)
