k and i gave them my gas tank lid to send it to some place to get the better paint...i should say...
he said PPG but can you explain what actually is PPG?
i've faced couple accidents caused by others and i have replaced hoods, fenders, bumpers, etc for other nissan cars and i never had a problem with paint match up.
are you saying that clearcoat can make the color brighter?

Man, jdm, how unprofessional. I have never worked in a bodyshop where we were allowed to talk to the customers-- much less cuss them out!! (And believe me, there have been times where I wanted to!)
Is this an insurance claim? Maybe you should complain to your insurance company. Everywhere bodyshop I've worked, we took care of the customer's complaints so they wouldn't complain to insurance company. Where is the quality control? If the match is that bad, then it should have never gotten to you.

it is pretty bad and he keeps telling me it's suppose to be that off because plastic component vs metal component.
i have DG and my bumper looks like inbetween color of Brillian silver and DG.
well my uncle's friend is a technician and he doesnt do the paint job.
i didnt cause this accident and i basically chose to go there.
fitment and everything by him is nice but the paint job.
i will see how it goes on 2nd paint job and if anything goes wrong again, i guess i will post pictures and make an official thread about it so i can get some help.
really appreciate it and sorry for hijacking your thread.

Yes the clear coat changes the color, but a good painter will take that into consideration when matching the color. When I get the color close, I clear it to see if it changes it. The clear will magnify the metallics and highlight certain hues. Clear also has a slight yellow tint that changes lighter colors a lot.
You have a 3-stage pearl that if blended into the adjacent panels, color match shouldn't be a problem.
And by the way jdm, you should tell that bodyshop that you don't care how many infiniti bumpers they paint, if it doesn't match it doesn't match. They should repaint it.

Being an ex-painter myself, air pressure will also have an effect on how metallics or the pearl will lay out. A higher air pressure will lighten the color, while the lower pressure tends to darken it up. Any car painted in base/clear...let me restate that, any "quality paint job" or repair should always be blended into adjacent panels to guarantee a match.
Clears can slightly change the tint, but so can paint texture (orange peel). A good shop will match the texture as well as the color. I've always been a huge fan of PPG paint/clears.
