Quick note on short shifters.
I just installed my Rogue Eng. Short shifter and thought I'd post a note for future installers.
Once i re-assembled everything I had an annoying rattle coming from the shifter (specifically the handle).
It was the spacer that is carried over from the stock shifter.
What i didn't realize is just HOW tight the handle had to be!
After I hand tightened it as far as I could I had to take a 12" crescent wrench and a towel to go another 10!! turns before it was tight enough to stop the rattle.
Just thought I'd throw this out there for people who experience similar things.
BTW the install was VERY easy, took about an hour and the results are great.
Nice short and precise shifts.

The stock shift is fairly long, the Rogue shifter is VERY nice.

hahaha, you're a funny guy.
i don't change things that don't need to be changed. factory shifter is
short enough. obviously you don't carve corners or do any type of
performance driving other than maybe just going straight.

Too short??
The factory shifter is short compared to some but certainly not too short for my taste. Shorter throws and a lighter feel would make this a better car to drive.

I have the '05 and installed the rogue this weekend. In terms of actual height: it seems to me that its about 1/2 inch shorter than the original. In regard to the install it was fairly simple with the exception of taking off the shift ****, it was a bitch to do. At first I tried using the adjustable crescent wrench with cloth and ended up slightly damaging the leather on the **** with the teeth of the wrench, which went right through the cloth. Trust me it takes a lot of force to do. I ended up using the normal wrench without teeth, I dont remember the size, I think it was a bit larger than an inch and it was a perfect fit with one layer of cloth in between. Since it didnt have teeth it was much safer for the leather around the ****.
I called 2 infiniti dealerships and a nissan to see if they carried the shifter cup, but they dont stock it. I had to do the install this weekend and didnt want to order it and wait. It was a little difficult to remove the plastic cup from the shifter, I accidentally broke two plastic teeth inside that hold the shifter, but its not a big deal since the other teeth still hold the shifter in place. The way I took out the cup was by placing the whole assembly between two wooden boards and banging the shifter out of the cup with a rubber hammer. I def recommend buying a new shifter cup before install. The whole install process took about 1 1/2 hours.
The shifts are shorter but not too short, which is why I got the rogue over the other shifters. The feel is a lot more solid than the original, although it does take a little bit of extra work to shift, which should losen up with time.
