Mod to increase fuel efficiency?

I think it's safe to say that the G is infamous for having a "Love Affair," with the local gas stations. Mods, if any, which would increase the G's fuel efficiency by any significant amount . . . Would almost indubitably alter the G's spirited personality, which we have all come to love and admire.
However, one mod does indeed come to mind . . . Wear the lightest pair of shoes, which you happen to own, prior to getting behind the driver's seat of your G.

I have the NAV, which tells me instantaneous gas milage. I used to think it's best to shift up at low rpm and cruise around at the top gear for as long as possible. That turned out to be false. To save gas, accelerate briskly to cruising speed and then stay there. What I do is 1st gear to 3000rpm, 2nd gear to 5000+rpm. and then 5th or 6th gear.
The best advice I have for saving gas - don't use the brake too much, everytime you brake you are wasting gas. So if you are speeding toward a red light 1/8 mile ahead, just pop it in neutral and let the car coast to the intersection.
Accelerating from 30-50 in the second gear probably uses less gear than doing than same in he 5th or 6th gear. In fact you are putting a lot more stress on the engine trying to accelerate from low rpms.

The gas mileage on our G's really trips me out sometimes. City driving in L.A. really sux and I can barely make it to about 300 miles per full tank of gas. Yet I made it to Vegas a couple of weekends ago on half a tank of gas! Basically, I drove to Vegas and back on about 1 full tank of gas!?!?!?

City driving is always going to burn a LOT more gas the Freeway/highway driving.
If you want better MPG get a civic. The G is a 3.5 v6 pushing 280hp, it's going to drink gas, that's the reality. The more power an engine has, the more it's going to drink... Can't have your cake and eat it too as they say.
