how do i get a proof of odometer reading?

can i just go to any gas station and have them put the odometer reading on an official receipt or invoice?

please help

 

An Odometer Disclosure Statement is usually required on all auto sells/purchases. You could get the form from a dealership, I would think.

 

yeah but the mileage when i purchased the pre owned car is not the same as it is now...would i still be able getthis form from them?

 

Any dealership might give you a blank one... ...or perhaps you can simply print one from your state's DMV website?

And you'll be needing a current disclosure statement for the current mileage, if you're selling it.

 

Are you asking because you recently bought the car but the seller didn't provide the mileage certificate and now your insurance company is asking? If that is the case, you need to go back to the seller and get one.

 

isn't the mileage on the title when you sign it over? I thought that was the official proof of odometer.

Otherwise it's recorded when you go in for a smog check.

 

If you want a current odo reading, just go to your local Infiniti dealer and have them print one out for you. Free and takes like 2 minutes.

Or, you can stand in line at the DMV for half a day and get the same piece of paper.
